The following method of citations within the text should be strictly followed: i) Citations within the text to be given in bracket must contain last name of the author, and year of publication. No comma should be used (Sharma 2010). ii) If more than one work of the author is cited, separate the year with a comma (Sharma 2008, 2010). iii) In case of quotations, page numbers of citations be separated by a colon (Sharma 2008:158) and hyphenate the inclusive pages (Sharma 2010:157-158]. iv) Citations for more than one author should be in chronological order with different authors separated by a semi-colon (Patil 1985; Sharma 2009; Mukherjee 2010).
v) Where there are two authors, cite both names (Dube and Atal 1978). For more than two authors use et.al, after the last name of the first author (Pawar et.al. 2004). Use ibid. if a citation is repeated without intervening citations and use page number after ibid (ibid:210). vi) Cite sentences/words/phrases taken from other works with single quotation marks; use double quotation marks only within quotations. Separate quotations of more than 50 words form the text and indent them on the left. Unless the entire sentence is part of the quotation, the punctuation must remain outside the quotation marks. vii) If gazetteers, reports and works of governmental organizations and other institutions are cited, mention the name of the organization/ institution sponsoring the publication in the citation, fully spelt out at its first occurrence (Government of India 2003), and use its abbreviation/acronym in subsequent citations (GOI 2003). viii) The literature from Government Websites, electronic databases/ online books/journals may be used and properly cited. Website material that has no author, no year and no page numbers should be avoided to be used as a reference material. 7. The listing of references must follow the alphabetical order of the last name of the (first) author. Give separately the bibliographic details of all works cited in the article under References in the following sequence: i) Article: the name of the author, followed by name of the co-author/s, if any, the year of publication, title of the article (within single inverted commas), the name of the journal (italicized), the volume number, the issue number, and the beginning and ending page numbers. ii) Chapter in an edited work or compilation: the name of the author, followed by name of the co-author/s, if any, the year of publication; title of the chapter (within single inverted commas); title of the book (italicized), the names of the editors/ compilers, the name of the publisher, place of publication, and the beginning and ending page numbers of the chapter. iii) Book: the name of the author, followed by name of the co-author/s, if any, the year of publication, title of the book (italicized), the name of the publisher, place of publication, and the page numbers. iv) Reports of Government/Institutional Publications: The name of the organization, the year of publication, title of the work, name of the publisher, place of publication and page numbers. v) Citation of Online Material: In case of online books/journals and other research articles the citation method as prescribed by the concerned publishers/copyright holders be followed. 9] Tables, charts, maps, figures etc. should be placed at appropriate places in the text of the article/paper and must be numbered serially with suitable headings. The tables should be referred to by their numbers within the text. Art-work for maps, figures and charts should be provided separately, if necessary. 10] Numerals from one to nine (1 to 9) should be in words and 10 and above in figures. However, the following should always be in figures: a) distance: 3 kms; b) age: 32 Years; c) percentage: 25 percent; d) centuries: 19th century; e) years 1990s. 11] Use British spellings in all cases rather than American spellings (e.g. colour, not color) Latitude is given to authors in italicization and spellings, but these should be consistent in the paper. 12] In case of a term to be abbreviated, it must be spelt out in its full form when it first appears in the paper followed immediately by its abbreviation in parentheses.
