Welcome The Twin Cities Catholic Chorale is unique in the United States in presenting a full season of choral Masses with orchestra as part of the liturgy of the Mass in Latin. We sing the works of 18th and 19th century composers, particularly those of the Viennese and German masters, including Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Hummel, and Herzogenberg. The Chorale sings at 10 a.m., Sundays, from mid-october through the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, except during Advent and Lent. Beginning in September 2013, all 10 a.m. Sunday Masses except Easter will be in Latin in the Ordinary Form (2002 Missale Romanum). We also sing the All Souls Day Requiem Mass, this year on November 5 at 7:30 p.m., and Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. Singers and Musicians Dr. Robert L. Peterson directs the approximately 60 volunteer singers and our professional instrumentalists and vocal soloists: Patricia Kent, soprano; Jocelyn Kalajian, contralto; Adam Gedde, tenor; and Jon Nordstrom, bass. Mary E. LeVoir is the organist. Our 40th Season at Saint Agnes This season the Twin Cities Catholic Chorale celebrates forty years at the Church of Saint Agnes. Monsignor Richard J. Schuler founded the Chorale in 1956 and brought it to Saint Agnes in 1974, five years after he became the parish s pastor. Special events to commemorate the anniversary include a symposium on sacred music and a homecoming Mass for all former Chorale singers. Porta Coeli Built by Austrian and Bavarian immigrants, the beautiful baroque Church of Saint Agnes provides an inspiring setting for sacred music and worship. It was modeled on Stift Schlägl, a monastery church at Aigen in Upper Austria, and its 205-foot high Zwiebelturm (onion tower) is a landmark visible throughout Saint Paul s Frogtown neighborhood. In 2012 Saint Agnes parishioners observed the 125th anniversary of their church s completion, and major repairs and improvements are planned for the coming year. 3
Experience Traditional Liturgy The Church of Saint Agnes and the Chorale strive to fulfill the Second Vatican Council s directives to preserve the Catholic Church s treasury of sacred music and foster Latin as the Church s universal language. We are pleased to welcome visitors from many communities and faiths. Groups wishing to reserve pews should call the parish office at (651) 925-8800 at least several days in advance. Support the Chorale The Twin Cities Catholic Chorale is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization that relies on individuals like you for its support. The Church of Saint Agnes generously provides space for our rehearsals and music library/archives, but we are solely responsible for paying our professional musicians and administrative expenses.
