Shivaji University Kolhapur Department of Music and Dramatics Master of Performing Arts (Instrumental Tabla/Pakhavaj) Applicable from June 2017 2018 A) Title-Coursee of the study for Master of Performing Arts (M.P.A) Instrumental. B) Duration: -Two Years (Part I & Part II)each part shall have two theory papers of 100 marks each &two Practical papers of 1000 mark each. C) AdmissionEligibility -B.P.A / Bridge course in Instrumental Music. D) Medium of Instructionn -Marathi / English E) Teaching Periods-There shall be four Periods of Theory & Practical. F) Tuition Feee -Rs. 12000/- Examination fees and other feee as per University Rules. G) Qualification of the Teacher-As per U.G.C Rules. H) Examination -There shall be an exam at the end of every year. Studentswill appear for four Papers (two theory & two practical) I) Standard ofpassing -To pass the examination candidate is required to obtain a minimum of 40% marks in each head of passing. 50% or more of the aggregate will be declared to have passed the examination in II nd class. Those who obtain 60% or more shall be declared to have passed the examination in I st class. Those who obtain 70% or more shall be declared to have passed the examination in first class with distinction.

Practical Paper II (100 Marks) (1) STAGE PERFORMANCE :- Performance of any Taal prescribed in the syllabus for 25 mins. (2) Ability to play Theka of Teentaal Ada Chautaal Ektaal At faster tempo (Drut Lay) (3) To play following Thekas. Addha Tappa JatTaal Khemta (4) Ability to play laggis in kehrawa and DadaraTaal. Practical paper IV (100 Marks) 1) STAGE PERFORMANCE (70 Marks) Performance of any Taal prescribed in the syllabus for 25 mins. 2) Project work and Internal assessment(30 Marks) All the candidates offering Tabla/Pakhavaj will prepare a practical oriented project of 10-12 pages on any topic related to Tabla/Pakhavaj and submit it before the practical examination. Candidate should present the topic for 10 minutes. ---------------
