Hello, Dolly! Original Broadway Company of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival Photograph Julieta Cervantes 2017 Y SEASON 2018-2019 BROADWA THEATRE LEAGUE of Utica, inc.

A LOOK BEYOND THE STAGE - HOW BROADWAY UTICA IMPACTS THE COMMUNITY & YOU WELCOME TO BROADWAY UTICA S 2018-2019 SEASON ~ This year we look beyond the stage and focus on the economic impact Broadway Utica has on the local community and you! Broadway Utica has always been a driving force of revenue on show nights in downtown Utica. On those nights, our restaurants are filled to capacity with Broadway Utica patrons who light up Genesee Street from each restaurant to the Stanley Theatre. Ten years ago, the Stanley Theatre received a major stage renovation with a message that this stage expansion would bring bigger and better Broadway shows to Utica. Broadway Utica is proud to have been a major donor to the project and has supported the theatre in many ways over the years. As the industry grows and changes, Broadway Utica has become an important player in the industry presenting Technical Shows. Economically, the Tech Shows have a positive financial impact on our city. We hire local union labor as stagehands, lighting technicians, audio technicians, flyman, riggers, loaders, hair, wigs, wardrobe and local musicians to assist the show during their technical hours and previews in Utica. When Broadway Utica hosts a Tech Show, the amount of time the production lives in Utica goes well beyond the traditional twoday stay and could extend to three or four weeks. On their extended stay, the cast, crew and production team eat in our restaurants, sleep in our hotels and enjoy our local tourist attractions on their days off. This creates a continuous and consistent cash flow for our local businesses and the Stanley Theatre. When Broadway Utica hosts a tech show, the city wins, our local businesses win and YOU win! YOU are the preview audience. YOU are the first to see the show before any others in the country. I hope you enjoy this year s season and the trip down memory lane with some of our favorite Tech Shows: Love Never Dies The Phantom Returns, Motown The Musical, A Christmas Story The Musical, Dr. Seuss How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and yes, a very special Tech Show this September, HELLO, DOLLY! starring Tony Award -winning legend, Betty Buckley! DEREK CLARK, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

BROADWAY UTICA S TECH NICAL ADVANTAGE LIGHTING UP UTICA S GREAT WHITE WAY BROADWAY UTICA IS ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT THE COMMUNITY AND HOW OUR SHOWS IMPACT THE RESTAURANTS, BARS, HOTELS, MUSEUMS AND LOCAL UNION LABOR. Each person in the service industry works extremely hard to accommodate our shows cast and crew during their extended stay. As we look back at the last five Broadway Utica Tech Shows, we invite the community to celebrate the remarkable amount of revenue the Tech Shows generate for the Great White Way Genesee Street. Due to the shows extended stays while teching in Utica, the past five Tech Shows have contributed more than $1.7 MILLION DOLLARS to our local economy. Most importantly, 67% of their dollars spent go to the hiring of local union labor, our restaurants, bars and hotels. Due to rising costs, we never want to miss an opportunity to host a Tech Show that brings so much value to the community and the economy. Take a look beyond the stage and continue to support our Tech Shows. These productions are in a league of their own and Broadway Utica is honored to host and embrace all the good they do for us, the community and you! FRIDAY & SATURDAY OCTOBER 19 & 20, 2018 7:30PM, PG-13 The Tony Award winning Best Musical, Monty Python s Spamalot, begins its search for the Holy Grail in the Fall of 2018. This outrageous musical comedy is lovingly ripped off from the film classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail with a book by Eric Idle and music and lyrics by the Grammy Award winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez, Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen, and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences worldwide are eating up SPAMALOT!

MONDAY & TUESDAY NOVEMBER 5 & 6, 2018 7:30PM, AGES 8+ SOMETHING ROTTEN! is Broadway s big, fat hit! New York Post Set in 1595, this hilarious smash tells the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom, two brothers who are desperate to write a hit play. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world s very first MUSICAL! With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is The Producers + Spamalot + The Book of Mormon. Squared! (New York Magazine).

BERNADETTE EICHLER YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM The Bernadette Eichler Youth Ambassador Program is now in its seventh year and strives to engage high school students and foster their interest in theater. This unique program provides selected students from 40 surrounding school districts with a Broadway Utica season subscription, educational pre talks, and our latest addition to the program, the opportunity to see a Broadway show in NYC. In exchange, the Youth Ambassador students submit a review of each show on social media and complete community service hour requirements. The Bernadette Eichler Youth Ambassador Program strives to engage and encourage the students passion in all aspects of theater. If you are going to be a high school junior or senior in the 2018-2019 school year and have an interest in theater, get involved and enrich your life! For more information go to BroadwayUtica.com or call us at 315-724-7196. JOIN US IN MAKING A DIFFERENCE When you donate to the Bernadette Eichler Youth Ambassador Program, your donation directly impacts the youth in our community. Students who join our program show real differences in their lives and embrace the arts. Each year, our program expenses increase and become more of a challenge to manage. We hope with individual donations and committed sponsors, we can meet or exceed the program goals for the season. On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff at Broadway Utica, we extend a warm and heartfelt thank you to the Bank of Utica for being our lead sponsor for the past seven years and to each of you for supporting the Bernadette Eichler Youth Ambassador Program.

Experiencing the behind-thescenes aspects of Broadway Utica, I learned to appreciate all the hard work that is put into showcasing the art form of theater to the community. When meeting the stars of the show, it is always thrilling and humbling when you realize that these people are just like ourselves. Broadway Utica s Youth Ambassador Program provided me with some of the most incredible opportunities and learning experiences in high school! If it weren t for this program, I would not have been able to truly discover my passion for the arts. CHRISTINE MOYLAN YUWAN ILANO Being in YAP has been an experience I will never forget. I have met amazing individuals, feel more in love with theatre, gained more confidence in myself and was reminded that a stage can truly change your life. KRISTEN PURCELL The YAP program was truly the best experience of my life! From watching terrific shows to meeting new and amazing lifelong friends... this was an experience I will treasure for life!
