Main Stage Music Program Iranian Heritage Day at The ROM 2012 (26 May 2012) 11:30 Baarbad Persian classical & Ensemble folklore 13:00 Arya Saaber [A new arrangements by Mehdi Rezania for classical compositions by Parviz Meshkatian & Hossein Alizadeh as well as Persian folklore songs for santur, tar, barbat, violin, violoncello, daf, tombak and vocals] Contemporary Persian Fusion [performance of violin & orchestra; live violin and recorded of string orchestra] 13:05 Zhouwan Kurdish folklore [ new arrangements of Kurdish folklore songs for keyboard, tanbur, violin, violoncello, daf & vocal 30 min Founded by Mehdi Rezania and Tolou Roushenas in 2004 for creating innovative and artistic, Baarbad has been one of the most prolific Iranian-Canadian ensembles. Members of Baarbad Ensemble are all graduated ians of different backgrounds. The ensemble has presented programs in various styles and genres from Persian classical and folklore to fusion and recitals. Baarbad Music is a winner of Ontario Art Council grants of 2011has collaborated with orchestras such as Sinfonia Toronto & virtuoso ians such as Hossein Behroozinia. 5 min Playing violin since 8, Arya learned the art of Persian classical with Iraj Kaavandi and Mehran Mohtady. Later he became a member of Tehran s Television National Symphonic Orchestra. He holds a bachelore of from York University and is finishing his MA in /composition in the same school. 25 min Zhouwan is a Kurdish folklore ensemble lead by Hossein Zoleikhapour, a pianist, educator and composer who came to Toronto in 2010. He was the president of Shemshal Music Association in Sanandaj for 8 years.

Rezania a former student of Ardavan Kamkar will present a new program in this genre accompanied by vocalist Saleh Lavaee. Ariel Balevi the renown story teller will be accompanied by two setar palyers Rouzbeh Akbari & Mehrdad Geramifard 40 min Born in 1977 in Fars, Iran Mehdi Rezania is an educator, composer producer and santur player. He started learning santur at 13 in his hometown of Abadeh and then went to Kamkar Music School to learn the advance level of santur playing under Ardavan Kamkar. In 2004, he founded Baarbad Music with Toloe Roushenas. He holds a bachelor of from York University and currently is finishing is master degree in /composition from the same school He released his first album in 2011 and is a winner of Ontario Art Council Grant in 2011.
