Europeana Regia aims to reconstruct in a virtual setting royal collections of manuscripts, which are dispersed throughout Europe today establish standards for similar projects in the future (metadata, digitization processes)
Europeana Regia Manuscripts will be fully accessible on the websites of the partner libraries: online catalogues digital libraries Metadata will be integrated into Europeana 874 manuscripts = 307 904 images
HISTORICAL COLLECTIONS
Bibliotheca Carolina 425 manuscripts 135 334 images 8 th and 9 th centuries The largest and oldest of the 3 collections Includes manuscripts from important abbeys and monastic schools in the Carolingian Empire: Reichenau, Wissembourg, Saint-Denis, Freising, Corbie, Saint-Amand, Reims
Library of Charles V and his Family 167 manuscripts 70 520 images 14 th century Reconstruction of the first French royal library Representative of the diffusion of texts through copies in the courts of France, England, Burgundy and Flanders Includes manuscripts belonging to Jean de Berry and Louis d Orléans
Library of the Aragonese Kings of Naples 282 manuscripts 102 050 images 15 th and early 16 th centuries A unique concentration of masterworks of French, Venetian, Neapolitan, Lombard, and Spanish illumination Manuscripts and early printed books; however, only the manuscripts will be digitized for this project

Other participating libraries will digitize a number of manuscripts within the scope of the project: municipal libraries of Amiens, Angers, Besançon, Bourges, Grenoble, Louviers, Reims, Rouen and Valenciennes Bibliothèque de Sainte-Geneviève Bibliothèque de Mazarine Société des lettres, sciences et arts de l Aveyron in Rodez
Other participating libraries will provide links their own images: British Library Château de Chantilly municipal library of Lyon other international partners such as e-codices (Virtual Manuscript Library of Switzerland) will also be linked to the project
ONE YEAR INTO THE PROJECT
Since January 2010 Decisions taken: metadata specifications have been determined aggregator chosen for Europeana: The European Library (TEL)
Since January 2010 Advances and achievements: digitization metadata first images and metadata will be added to Europeana by June 2011 website online

Europeana Regia Web Portal Two purposes: Project website Platform to present manuscripts Multilingual resource Manuscripts can be consulted in the context of the collections to which they once belonged
Project Evolution Static site XHTML and CSS online since late November 2010 current version: http://www.europeanaregia.eu Dynamic site built with Drupal CMS currently in its final testing phase will go live in early April 2011
