Lenape Select Ensemble Contract 2017/18 Welcome to Lenape s Select Choral Ensemble program! This year promises to be a rewarding musical experience for everyone. The following guidelines comprise the details of your contract. BEHAVIOR 1. Rehearsal time is short. Make the best of the time we have. Your music, a pencil, a water bottle, and a positive attitude are required. 2. Cell phone use is prohibited during rehearsal. Turn your cell phone off and put it away before entering the choir room. Students who use their cell phones during rehearsal will have to place their phones in cell phone jail until the end of rehearsal. 3. All choral room policies apply during select choir rehearsals. This includes signing out and taking a pass to use the bathroom. Students must remain in the choral room area during rehearsals. Students are not permitted to wander the halls. 4. Disrespectful behavior towards another choir member or Mrs. Rogers will not be tolerated. a. If you choose to be disrespectful you will be given one warning by Mrs. Rogers. b. If you continue to be disrespectful you will be told to call your parents to pick you up early as you will be kicked out of rehearsal for the night. 5. All school rules apply when we are at rehearsal and at performances. This includes dress code guidelines, public displays of affection, cell phone use, and use of profanity. As a member of a Lenape Select Choral Ensemble you are a spotlight in the community. Each member is a delegate of the school and should therefore demonstrate appropriate behavior in or out of uniform. ATTENDANCE Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory. You will receive a tentative schedule at the first rehearsal. Mrs. Rogers website will always show the most up to date version of the schedule. Plan ahead. Make arrangements for transportation in advance. Put all select choir performance dates on your personal and family calendar, and do not schedule other events when you have select choir commitments. Our choir performs at its best when all of its members are present. When you are absent you hurt not only yourself, but your section, and the choir as a whole. Choir members who are absent from school on the day of a rehearsal may not attend rehearsal. Choir members who are scheduled to compete in a Lenape or CB West sports match/game/competition will be excused from rehearsal. Choir members who participate in a Lenape or CB West sports team or club that practices or meets at the same time as choir rehearsal are expected to split their time between both activities. It is the student s responsibility to communicate frequently and openly with Mrs. Rogers and the coach/club advisor about upcoming conflicts. Students may miss rehearsal for religious obligations without penalty. The following infractions of this contract will result in removal from the group. 1. Excessive tardiness or absences (more than three in a semester) 2. Missed performances. 3. Any member who is kicked out of rehearsal more than once for disrespectful behavior.

FUNDRAISING Lenape Open Mic Night has become an annual tradition at Lenape. This year, Open Mic Night will be held on Friday, Oct. 20 th, from 7-9:30 PM, in the cafeteria. Tickets to the event will cost $5.00. Proceeds from the event will go towards student music festival participation fees. This event is open to the entire Doylestown Community. We are in need of parent help that night to sell concessions and tickets, decorate the cafeteria, and help tear down at the end of the night. If you are interested in helping out at this event please contact Mrs. Rogers ASAP. On February 3 the Lenape Choir will, once again, host a Princess Meet and Greet Pancake Breakfast at Chambers 19 Restaurant. This event has consistently been hugely successful in raising money for the Lenape Choir Program. The Auditions for princesses will be held on December 11th. On the day of the breakfast student and parent volunteers will be needed to seat our customers, bus tables, sell 50/50 raffle tickets, and play the role of the princesses, of course. Proceeds from this event will go towards the Lenape Choir and Lenape Players. More information about this event will come out in December. On March 20 th, the Lenape Music Department will hold a Paint Night Fundraiser in the cafeteria from 5:30-9:30. More details about this event will be coming as we get closer. However, if you have ideas for ways to make this event a huge success please contact me. Mrs. Rogers is also open to hearing additional fundraising ideas. If you have an idea for a fundraiser, please contact Mrs. Rogers with the details. Communication Text Alerts - You can sign up for text alerts by following these simple instructions. Chamber Choir @6af84a Women s Ensemble @6af84ad Men s Ensemble @63hkkf Text the code for your ensemble to this number 81010. Text alerts are a one-way communication from Mrs. Rogers to choir members. They will be used for unexpected cancelled rehearsals and last minute reminders. Standard text messaging fees will apply. CONCLUSION The Lenape Select Choral program is a place where we can have fun, learn, and work cooperatively with others. In order to be successful we have to be disciplined and put forth our best effort. I put in 100% and I expect each member to do the same. If we all do our best, this year will be a positive and productive experience. This is just a written reminder of the respectful and constructive behavior that we should all exhibit anyway. Please fill out the attached contract COMPLETELY and return to Mrs. Rogers by our next rehearsal.
