Pre-Installation Note: The DV1818LED will require two separately switched 12 A.C. circuits. One circuit will power the G JCD bulbs and one circuit to power the LED power supply. Also needed will be a 12 A.C. wall receptacle to power the wall control unit power supply. 1 st circuit - Wire G circuit: Connect ground wire (marked with green tracer) and power wires (black or white tracers) in outlet box to one circuit. Secure 18 gauge 3 conductor wire to the strain relief in the canopy assembly. 2 nd circuit - Wire LED power supply circuit: Connect silver ground wire and power wires (black and white) (these wires originate from LED power supply located in canopy assembly) in outlet box to one circuit. This wire should be connected to a single pole switch so the LED power supplies can be turned off when not in use. 3 rd circuit - LED circuit: There are two (2) wires required for the LED installation. The first wire will be an (8) conductor silver stem wire that will come from the chandelier frame to the canopy assembly. This wire is to be secured with the strain relief in the canopy assembly then wired accordingly into the dimmers located in the canopy assembly (see Figure 1). The second wire will be the Cat5e communications cable that will come from the wall control unit. This will go through the slot in the top of the canopy assembly and plug into the Cat5e jack. NOTE: There is an off button on the wall plate. This only tells the LEDs to turn off and does not turn off the LED power supplies. Leaving the LED power supplies on may shorten their life. If technical assistance is needed please call us at (8) 836-182 and ask for Da Vinci technical support. Feed suspension cable through running thread from the top so that the cast cable end is seated inside of the cable socket. Attach running thread to crossbar. Attach crossbar using hardware (not provided) to outlet box with cable hanging down. Feed suspension cable through the center hole of the canopy assembly and mount canopy assembly to running thread with supplied hex nut. Feed suspension cable through the mirror ring, mirror and then screw collar in order to mount chandelier frame to suspension cable. Loosen the safety nut on the top of the chandelier frame by turning it counter clockwise and depressing it in order to feed the cable into cable glider and hang to desired height. Slide cable into glider and allow it to play out of the bottom of the frame temporarily. To adjust height, hold the frame with one hand while depressing the safety nut with the other hand until the cable is released. Feed stem wires through stem wire hole in mirror. When chandelier is at desired height, trim stem wires and make connection (see wiring instructions). Install ferrite filter (#11115) on CAT5e communications cable, LED power supply leads and on (8) conductor wires from chandelier to dimmers. After wiring raise mirror ring and mirror to ceiling and secure to running thread with the screw collar. Supplied are 16 cable grips. Clip to support cable and adjust along stem wires as desired. Suspension cable will exit the bottom of the cable glider inside of frame. Cut excess cable off with cable cutters leaving a minimum of 1 of cable. 2 Plug bulbs carefully but completely into socket. A combination of all three primary colors of light (red, green and blue) appears white to the human eye. Combinations of two primaries produce the "secondary" colors (magenta, cyan and yellow). The three primary colors can be mixed to create almost any other color light. By mixing colors, the Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) may be adjusted to blend with the surrounding environment. CCT generally measures the "warmth" or "coolness" of a light source appearance. Color Temperature which is measured in Kelvin, indicates whether a light source has a warm, midrange or cool color appearance. "Warm" light sources have a low color temperature (2-3K) and feature more light in the red/orange/yellow range. Light with a higher color temperature (>5K) features more blue light and in referred to as "cool". DV1818ALED page 6 DV1818ALED page 11

LED Troubleshooting This section gives an outline for troubleshooting problems with your LED system. If technical assistance is needed please call us at (8) 836-182 and ask for Da Vinci technical support. Problem Potential Cause Fix How to take apart your Da Vinci for changing bulbs or washing: One or more switches for the LED system are in the off position. The distribution box power switch is in the off position. Turn all switches for the LED system to the on position. Turn the recorder switch to on. There are two crystal semi-circles surrounding the cable at the top. 1 Remove first semi-circle. 2 Remove second semi-circle. Red, Green, or Blue LED lights will not turn on. The distribution box fuse is blown Communication wires are not connected correctly or loose Replace the blown fuse Check all communication wires for proper wiring and that they are tight 3 Remove bottom by unscrewing large bottom crystal octagon. (You may push up on the area immediately around the octagon to reach it better.) 4 Once the bottom crystal is completely unscrewed, remove the entire bottom circle of crystal. Da Vinci comes apart like an orange, in five sections. Chandelier is not getting 12VAC to the LEDS The slider for that color is in the off position Check power going to the LED circuit is 12VAC Move slider to the on position 5 Locate and remove screws on the bottom of the ball. Do NOT discard screws, they are required for reassembly. 6 Locate the locking pin inside the top of the ball. 7 While holding one section of the ball, remove the pin by pulling it up. The crystal section can then be removed. All Red, Green, or Blue LEDs won t turn on, but another color will. The wire for that color is not connected to the dimmer inside the ball The wire for that color is broken The wall plate is malfunctioning Connect the loose wire to the dimmer 8 Remove the other four crystal sections in the same manner, so that all that remains is the frame with bulbs. Replace necessary bulbs. If you are cleaning your Da Vinci, all crystal parts can now be placed in the dishwasher. The connectors for the LEDs are loose Press connector on to module The wire in the connector is loose Some of the LED lights do not turn on. One or more LED modules are connected backwards. The RGB+ do not match with the red, green, blue, and black wires on the connector One or more LED modules are broke Turn connector around How to clean your Da Vinci: Your Da Vinci crystal panels are dishwasher safe! (Do not attempt to wash or spray the LED modules with any liquid, it will shorten their life) 1 Wash Da Vinci in its own cycle. Do NOT wash with silverware or dishes. Red, Green, or Blue LED lights won t turn off. One or more LED modules have an end connector missing and is grounding on the frame One or more LED modules are shorted to ground on the frame Inside the ball the appropriate color wire is disconnected from the DMX decoder or dimmer. Connect blank connector on last module to stop grounding. Remove any metal that could be causing the LED module to ground to the frame 2 Carefully place crystal sections in dishwasher. Make sure that the crystal sections are not touching each other as this could cause chipping. 3 Use good quality detergent and anti-spotting rinse following the instructions of the dishwasher manufacturer. Cleaners with bleach or ammonia should NOT be used. 4 Allow crystal panels to cool before handling and reassembling your Da Vinci. If sections are brought directly from the hot dishwasher to a cold area, the drastic temperature change could cause crystal to crack. 5 Put on gloves to handle your now clean crystal sections. See page 4 for assembly instructions. DV1818ALED page 1 DV1818ALED page 7

CRYSTAL IDENTIFICATION SHEET TOP 82/1 82/12 82/18 BOTTOM 82/1 82/12 82/18 LARGE BOTTOM OCTAGON 82/4 Frequency of cleaning crystal We know people who clean their crystal every few months, because they love handling the crystals and admiring them close up. Others do a cleaning every six or nine months. To stretch the time between cleanings, dust lightly every two or three months with a feather duster, lambswool duster or make-up brush. Frequency of cleaning depends on location of your Da Vinci and other environmental factors. CRYSTAL SECTIONS 82/1 82/12 82/12 82/16 82/18 82/22 82/26 Crystal needs cleaning when it appears dusty or dull.
