Day one : departure : Boulogne Billancourt to London London: we went to the Shakespeare s Globe theatre : It s a beautiful theatre in wood. It was a great experience and it was very interesting too. The teacher tried a costume to show us how they dressed in Shakespeare s time. It was funny and the costume was special. Then, we visited a little museum in the Globe : there were costumes and many other things like armors. Then, we went to Stratford Upon Avon in our host family. The houses were big and more special than in France. Day two : In the morning, we went to Shakespeare s birthplace.

Shakespeare was born in this house and he lived with his six sisters and brothers. He s father was a glover and his mother was a rich housewife. In this house, there was Shakespeare s father s workshop. The visit was interesting. Next, we went to Anne Hathaway s cottage. She was Shakespeare s wife. It was one of the biggest house we ve visited, and one of the most beautiful. The garden is very pretty and big. There was snow when we went there and we did a battle of snowballs. Like for the Globe theatre, it s in thatched roof. The guide was funny and it was very interesting. Then, in afternoon, we went to Hall s Croft. It wasn t a very nice visit because the guide didn t talk loud so we didn t understand a lot. Finally, it wasn t the best remembrance.

Day three : Let s shopping!! In the morning, we went shopping. It was unusual to buy thing with pence and pounds. In the afternoon, we went to the Falstaff experience museum. It talked about Henry VIII s life and about the Black Plague.

Shakespeare s life William Shakespeare was born on 23 April 1564 at Stratford Upon Avon. His father was John Shakespeare and his mother was Mary Arden. He had 7 brothers and sisters. It was a poet and a playwright. He was18 years old when he married Anne Hathaway. He had 3 children : Susanna and twins called Hamnet and Judith. He integrates The Globe in 1599 as comedian, playwright and poet. His main plays are Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth, Othello, Hamlet, The king Lear He influenced English language. His main quotes are : - to be or not to be, that is the question ( Hamlet ) - a plague a both your houses ( Romeo and Juliet ) - but screw your courage to the sticking place, and we ll not fail ( Macbeth ) - o Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo..? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love ; And I ll no longer be a Capulet. ( Romeo and Juliet ) - so sweet was never to fatal ( Othello ) - nothing can come of nothing; speak again ( The King Lear ) Shakespeare retired to Stratford upon Avon on 1611. He died on the 23 April 1616 and his wife Anne died in 1623 at the age of 67.

We are going deal with the royal Shakespeare company. The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is a major British theatre company. Timeline of the royal Shakespeare company: 1932 new Shakespeare Memorial Theatre opens, abutting the remains of the old. 1961 chartered name of the corporation and the Stratford theatre becomes Royal Shakespeare. 1974 The Other Place opened, created from a prefabricated former store/rehearsal room in Stratford. 1986 the Swan Theatre opened, created from the shell of the 1879 Memorial Theatre. 1991 Purpose-built new Other Place, designed by Michael Reardon, opens. November 2010 The Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres re-open following their transformation.

We met Joe, who is an actor of the Royal Shakespeare Company and he made us work on Romeo and Juliet. We did scenes of battles and quarrels. it was so funny!! We played mercutio and tybalt s scene act 5 scene 2 and we imagined this scene nowadays and it was very difficult but so great!! To conclude, Joe was nice and he taught us how to learn and have fun at the same time. and Joe spoke a little French although the workshop was all in English. written by Aissata and Lindsay The Globe The globe is a famous theatre in London near the River Thames. The globe was built in 1599 but destroyed by the fire in 1613, rebuilt in 1614 and demolished in 1644. The modern construction was opened in 1997 by Sam Wanamaker. The Globe is an important construction. The globe is famous as Shakespeare s plays were played in this theatre. The galleries are covered by a thatched roof, but in the middle of the globe we can see the sky so the plays were playing in the afternoon when it didn t rain.

wooden lines. We can see the thatched roof and the We saw the costumes with the actors who were playing in Shakespeare s times. After we made a tour of the Globe with a guide, he was young and friendly. We have learned only the men could play in Shakespeare s times so women were played by teenagers (boys). In the foreground this is the stage and in the background we can see the whole galleries. Francisca, Lola and Lucile

Romeo kissing Juliet during the party at the Capulets. Romeo falls in Love with Juliet. This is Love at First sight! But, Their Love is impossible as Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. Romeo drank a poison when he learnt Juliet was dead. But, he doesn t know that Juliet is still alive. She pretends that she is dead in order not to marry Paris as she loves Romeo, her only love. When Romeo thought Juliet died, he wanted to die because he said that he had no reason to live if Juliet wasn t alive. Instead of getting the letter, he doesn t get the message. Once Romeo had drunk the poison, Juliet awoke and stabbed herself. At the end, the two Families decided to reconcile. By Yasmine
