Suffocating minds is a New electro Wave band that was born in 2007. The band is mainly influenced by typical 80 s sounds and tunes: New & Cold Wave, Industrial, Synth Pop, 80 s and contemporary electro. Born in the 70 s and 80 s, the Suffocating Minds members (Alain DE BECK, drums David NINANE, bass Vincent LEMINEUR, vocal Grégory LACOMBLE, synth) have developed their musical skills in a society bursting with electronic innovations like videogames, surfing on the Synth Pop music wave. For them, there s no doubt that electro is the best musical style to express the diversity of their emotions, memories, pains, dilemmas but also their hopes, joys and inner revolutions. It has become a natural process fitting their needs to explore their feelings through music. Obviously, this choice doesn t exclude melodies neither does it prevent them from sharing all their sensitivity quite the opposite, really. Suffocating Minds is a band that manages to send out seemingly contradictory and complementary signals : strength & weakness, energy & bitterness, doubt and confidence, nostalgia and enthusiasm. In 2013, the group brought out self-produced 11 tracks album named «In a different life» and had, as an example, the opportunity to play twice at the same festival than the influential band Front 24 Enthusiastic feedback from audience and music websites have risen up their confidence and will to share their music outside of Belgian borders. Choosing a name: Though Suffocating Mind is the title of one of their first tracks, it mainly refers to the contradictions and doubts within all of us. Obviously, that s a recurrent theme in some of their tracks. Choosing a language to sing in: Forget the French background; it has always been crystal clear that the band members would choose English to express themselves. And while their musical influence comes mostly from English-speaking bands, the Bard s language happens to be a better fit with the atmosphere they convey. And lest we forget, Vince L., the band s leader, lived in London for a few years in the early 2000 s; he still has very fond memories of this time in his life. Les influences: Bands : Depeche Mode, IAMX, Nine Inch Nails, New Order, Styles : New Wave, Italo Disco, Indus, Electro-pop, Pop, Björk, Goose, Kavinsky,

They talked about us... «Some songs have this potential to touch you with delight» «When a whole crowd follows the beats with their feet, shakes, claps and raises up hands, jumps and sings along, we call it a success ( ) Most of the people had never heard of this band. But is it possible to resist those electro melodies once they have entered your ears and crossed your entire body?» www.wallonight.be (translated from french) «There is something more in Suffocating Minds. It makes all the difference. A good mix of Electro and New Wave, a warm voice, uplifting beats, a permanent quest for catchy melodies» www.dubelgedanslesoreilles.com (translated from french) «Seems we have a newcomer from Belgium with the act SUFFOCATING MINDS ( ) The real drum and bass bring something energetic compared to usual synth acts. Very well build and instant pop melody.» www.reflectionsofdarkness.com (UK) «The vocal performance and sound are fabulous, with the distorted stereo slap delay making it wide and dark, especially in the chorus, and the whispered echoed backing vocal adds to the vibe» Computer music Magazine (UK)
