7 th Grade Elective Course: Digital Photography and Desktop Publishing Students will use a variety of publishing software, such as PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, Google Slides, and Photoshop, to create professional-looking and visually appealing digital creations. Students will use school digital cameras to take pictures around the school, and use their photos to create projects. Students will learn and practice: Effective use of digital camera and digital photography Downloading, saving, manipulating photos Principles of effective graphic design Just a tiny example of the amazing things we create!

7 th and 8 th Grade Elective Choice: Yearbook Class Olivia and Miku snapping a photo in the hall. Student in this class become a staff, work as a team, and publish the yearbook! Students will learn basic principals of publishing, layout design and photojournalism. Lauren finding a creative angle! What makes it so special? It is a lot of fun, students have a very important job to do; their work become a part of Pyle history; it sometimes involves a lot of work. Yearbook Class Nico edits a spread layout while listening to music. Creating the yearbook involves: Choosing a theme, cover, style and color scheme Taking photos throughout the year Learning principals of layout design Designing pages Selecting photos, captions, headlines and text John B. and Ryan D. cruising the hall for a good photo op. Research includes finding out who is who, what is their real name Matching names with faces Publicizing the yearbook throughout the year Sorting and delivering the books when they arrive in the spring. Cultivate leadership skills. Perform three concerts each year. Participate in the MCPS Band Festival. Compete at the Hershey Park Music Festival. Intermediate Band Refine instrument tone production and technique. Dive into music vocabulary and theory. Build the Pyle musical community and strengthen friendships! Engage in ensemble clinics with professional musicians.

Audition-Based Ensembles: Jazz Band Tuesdays after-school. Saxes, Trumpets, Low Brass, Keyboard, Guitar, Bass, Drum set. Develop the fundamentals of jazz ensemble playing. Dive into Jazz Theory and improvisation. Perform in four concerts each year. Have fun in an advanced ensemble! Flute & Clarinet Choir Tuesdays after-school. Develop advanced woodwind technique. Experience chamber music small-ensembleplaying. Learn a variety of repertoire, from classical to jazz to contemporary. Perform four concerts each year. Have fun in an advanced ensemble!

Award winning choral group in county, state, and regional competitions. All are welcome. No prior experience necessary. 7 th Grade Chorus Exciting course designed to strengthen the voice, sharpen skill in music, and perform with friends and classmates. Perform a wide variety of choral music including classical, pop, musical theatre, folk, rock, and more. Explore the fundamentals of musicianship and choral singing including reading and interpreting the score, vocal health and sound production, singing successfully through the changing voice, and singing within an ensemble. Perform in two major concerts and participate in performance field trips including traveling to a music competition and festival in NYC. Excellent opportunity to make new and lasting friends.
