Brothers bas been conducting the Sammamish Symphony since its inception. Bom and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, Ms. Brothers studied conducting with Denis de Coteau, Music Director of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. Before coming to Issaquah. she lived in Oregon, taught at Umpqua Community College, as well as conducted the Umpqua Chamber Orchestra, the UCC Chamber Ensemble, and the Eugene Community Orchestra.

1998 CLASSICAL CONCERTO CONTEST Sponsored by the Sammamish Symphony and the City of Issaquah Arts Commission, this year's Classical Concerto Contest was open to all students through eighth grade. The contest provides a great opportunity for young musicians to perform in a professional environment, and winners will be directed by Conductor Gail Brothers as they "solo" with this orchestra. Preliminary auditions for the 1998 contest were held in January, and on March 8, 1998, the following two winners and two runners-up were chosen. Winners Julia Doe, Bellevue - violinist Nazila Dabestani, Bellevue - pianist Runners-Up Sophie Beckman Uppert, Edmonds - pianist Frank Huang, Bellevue - pianist 8th grade 2nd grade 5th grade 8th grade This afternoon's performance features our 2 winners m concert with the Sammamish Symphony Orchestra.
