6.2 Recognzng left and rght hearng ad If you have two hearng ads, they may be tuned dfferently. One for your left ear, the other for your rght. Do not swap them. Please pay attenton to ths when cleanng, storng and nsertng the hearng ads. 7 Gettng started Once you have placed the hearng ads on your ears, you can turn them on. The hearng ad always starts n program 1 and wth the pre-set volume. 7.1 On On/Off functon 1. Close the battery door to turn on the hearng ad n program 1 (one). 2. Open the battery door to turn off the hearng ad. Use your fngernal to pull t open. Off 7.1.1 Smart Start Smart Start delays the tme before the hearng ad turns on after you close the battery door. Wth Smart Start, you wll hear a beep ( etc.) for each second of the delay perod (5 or 10 seconds delay). If you do not want to turn on the hearng ads pror to placng them on your ear, ask your hearng care professonal to de-actvate Smart Start. 7.2 1 Insertng/Replacng the battery 1. Open the battery door completely by usng your fngernal. Remove the used battery f present. 2. Prepare the new battery (please refer to page 2 for nformaton on approprate battery type/sze for your hearng ad). Remove the protectve fol to actvate the battery. 2 3. 4. Insert the new battery wth the postve sde n the correct poston. Always nsert the battery n the door: never drectly nto the hearng ad. 5. Gently close the battery door. 1. Always use new Znc-Ar batteres that have a mnmum remanng shelf lfe of 1 year. 2. Whenever the hearng ads are not n use, remember to turn them off to avod unnecessary battery consumpton. 3. At nght, swtch off the hearng ad and open the battery door completely to allow mosture to evaporate and prolong the hearng ad s lfespan. 4. If the hearng ad s experencng frequent loss of connecton to ReSound wreless accessores, contact your hearng care professonal for a lst of low mpedance batteres. WARNING: Batteres contan dangerous substances and should be dsposed of carefully n the nterest of your safety and for the envronment. Also, keep batteres away from pets, chldren and mentally dsabled persons. 7.3 Low battery ndcator The hearng ad wll reduce amplfcaton and play a melody f battery power gets too low. 7.3.1 Low-Battery Indcator when usng ZPower Rechargeable System The acoustcal low-battery ndcator, dscussed n the above, wll not functon n the same way when used wth the ZPower Rechargeable System due to the battery desgn. As soon as the ndcator s actvated (or heard), connect the hearng nstrument to the charger provded to you or replace wth non-rechargeable Znc-Ar batteres. It s recommended that you keep a supply of non-rechargeable Znc-Ar batteres to use n case you do not have your charger wth you, or do not have the tme to re-charge the battery wth your charger. 7.3.2 Low battery ndcator when pared wth wreless accessores only The batteres dran faster when you use wreless functonaltes lke drect streamng from your Phone or streamng sound from your TV wth our TV Streamer. When the batteres deplete, the support of some ReSound wreless accessores shut down. Full functonalty returns when you nsert a new battery. The table below shows how the functonalty decreases wth the depleton of the batteres. 7.4 Insert/Remove hearng ad For comfort, always turn off your hearng ads before you nsert or remove them. 7.4.1 Insert earmold 1. Hold the earmold between your thumb and ndex fnger and poston ts sound outlet n your ear canal. 2. Slde the earmold all the way nto your ear wth a gentle, twstng movement. 3. Move the earmold up and down and gently press to place t correctly n the ear. Openng and closng your mouth can ease nserton. 4. Make sure the hearng ad sts frmly behnd the ear. By expermentng, you may dscover an easer method. Wth proper nserton, hearng ads should ft snugly but comfortably. NOTE: It may be helpful to pull your ear up and outward wth your opposte hand durng nserton. 7.4.2 Remove earmold 1. Lft the hearng ad from behnd the ear. For a moment, let t hang besde your ear. 2. Gently pull the removal cord (not the hearng ad or the tubng) to pull the hearng ad from the ear. NOTE: For thn tube custom earmolds, grasp the removal cord and pull the earmold outward. 3. Remove the earmold completely by gently twstng t. 7.4.3 Insert thn tube wth dome 1. Hang the hearng ad over the top of the ear. 2. Hold the thn tube where t bends and gently place/push the dome nto the ear canal. Push the dome far enough nto the ear canal so that the thn tube les flush wth the head (check wth a mrror). NOTE: To avod whstlng, t s mportant that the tube and the dome ft correctly nto your ear. For other possble reasons, check wth the Troubleshootng gude. 7.4.4 Remove thn tube wth dome 1. Hold the thn tube wth your thumb and forefnger and remove the tube. 7.4.5 Sports lock Your hearng care professonal wll apply and adjust the Sports lock. 7.5 Operaton of the hearng ad 7.5.1 Push button and Mult-functon button If you have a hearng ad wth a push button or mult-functon button, ths wll allow you to use up to four dfferent lstenng programs, each of them sutable for certan stuatons. 1. Tap the push button to swtch between programs. 2. You wll then hear one or more beeps. The number of beeps ndcates whch program you have selected (one beep = program one, two beeps = program two, etc.). 3. When you turn the hearng ads off and then back on, they always return to the default settng (program one and pre-set volume). It should not be necessary to control the volume manually. 14 Care and mantenance Please follow the nstructons below to have the best user experence and to prolong the durablty of your hearng ads: 1. Keep your hearng ad clean and dry. Wpe the case wth a soft cloth or tssue after use to remove grease or mosture. Do not use water or solvents, as these can damage the hearng ad(s). 2. Never mmerse hearng ads n water or other lquds, as lquds may cause permanent damage to the hearng ads. 3. Avod rough handlng of hearng ads or droppng them on hard surfaces or floors. 4. Use a damp cloth to clean the recever tube and recever dome on the outsde. Do not use water when you are cleanng the recever tubes or the recever domes. 14.4 Changng wax guard for recever tube For changng Cerustop (whte) wax flters, the followng steps are needed: 1. To remove the old wax guard, nsert the removal sde of the wax guard tool nto the used wax guard so that the shaft of the tool s touchng the rm of the wax guard. Slowly pull the wax guard straght out. 2. To nsert the new wax guard, gently press the replacement sde of the wax guard tool straght nto the hole of the sound outlet untl the outer rng les flush wth the outsde of the recever. Pull the tool straght out -the new wax guard wll reman n place. 15 General warnngs 1. Consult a hearng care professonal f you thnk there may be a foregn object n your ear canal, f you experence skn rrtaton, or f excessve earwax accumulates wth the use of the hearng ad. 2. Acute or chronc dzzness. 5. Unlateral hearng loss of sudden or recent onset wthn the prevous 90 days. 6. Audometrc ar-bone gap equal to or greater than 15dB at 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz. 7. Vsble evdence of sgnfcant cerumen accumulaton or a foregn body n the ear canal. 8. Pan or dscomfort n the ear. CAUTION: The maxmum output of the sound generator falls nto the range that can cause hearng loss accordng to OSHA regulatons. In accordance wth NIOSH recommendatons, the user should not use the sound generator for more than eght (8) hours a day when set to a level of 85 db SPL or above. The audologst or hearng care professonal wll conduct a hearng ad evaluaton to assess your ablty to hear wth and wthout a hearng ad. The hearng ad evaluaton wll enable the audologst or hearng care professonal to select and ft a hearng ad to your ndvdual needs. If you have reservatons about your ablty to adapt to amplfcaton, you should nqure about the avalablty of a tral-rental or purchase-opton program. Many hearng care professonals now offer programs that permt you to wear a hearng ad for a perod of tme for a nomnal fee after whch you may decde f you want to purchase the hearng ad.
