Harvest Narverud / SATB Voices a cappella Harvest (The Moon Shines Down) ACOB NARVERD SATB Voices a cappella Duration: 2:24 RANGES:
2 Notes Harvest depicts the spirit o the all season through a series o thoughts on nature and lie. The text was inspired by the colors and nostalgia o the Kansas prairie in autumn. Lonely, ety spaces in the ading landscape evoke conlicting eelings o wistulness and peace, a time to relect on our present surroundings and the deeper meaning o lie itsel. Throughout the piece, the tei should eel ree and almost chantlike; allow the words to determine the ebb and low o each phrase. Teo markings are merely a suggestion. Careul attention should be placed on the silicity and beauty o tone; thereore, little to no vibrato is desired. Tall, warm vowels should be eloyed throughout, and all rhythmic notes should move "orward" with direction and momentum, but should always remain legato. While consonants should be crisp and clean, the main ocus should remain on the vowels and text stress to ensure that the story is being told. Singing on "Noo" is a great way to learn the rhythms and to tune the chords beore the words are added. To reinorce singing legato, try singing an entire phrase on only the vowels and add the consonants back in ater the legato line is mastered. Through the golden haze lie open ields and distant meadows brown. And deep within a lonely cider grove sits a burning ire, ading with the leaves, bringing warmth to my soul as I surrender to the Earth, embracing all the beauty within. The autumn wind blows and the moon shines down... Another day has passed, yet in my restless mind there lies a still reward, and I'm certain now that I will ind my love in harvest. But still I wonder, oh how I wonder, still, I wonder what will be... The autumn wind blows and the moon shines down...
