Step 4: Repsitin the backgrund click n Stretch and select the desired psitin fr the backgrund. ***Vide file will play ONCE by default. Creating a message Basic Mde (cntinued) Adding Text Over Backgrund Step 1: Enter a text message Mve cursr inside the Text bx and type a message. Step 2: Adjust text size t fit the actual display area Fnt Size Adjust (manually). Use the arrw keys t change the fnt size until entire message displayed prperly in the display area (black bx). Nte that fnt style will change. Nte: Anything utside f the Frame Windw/Display Area will be crpped. Make sure t resize yur entire message t fit the Frame Windw / Display Area. Or, enter multiple lines by pressing ENTER and text size will aut adjusts with Fnt Size Adjust value reset t 0. Further fnt size adjustment can be dne by changing the Fnt Size Adjust value. Step 3: Change Fnt Style Basic editing mde supprts Windws true type fnts. Use the arrw and select desired fnt style. Click n Mre Fnt buttn fr additinal fnt styles. Once selected, text inside the display area will change accrding t the fnt style selected. Nte: B Frame (Basic Mde) editing functin affects everything in the same LAYER. Every frame cntains tw layers Text Layer and Animatin / Backgrund Layer. Changes made are n LAYER level. Step 4: Add Outline r Shadw t Text click n Style and select Outline, then pick the clr fr the utline A clr palette will appear upn clicking the Clr buttn. Step 5: Change Text Clr click n Text Clr and select desired clr fr the text. A clr palette will appear upn clicking the Text Clr buttn. Use cursr and select the desire clr, and make sure desire clr appears in the clr windw r adjust (click) the clr bar n the right. Tips: Multiple Clrs the text clr fr each line can be set t different clr. Click n the clr blck in frnt f each text string t change the fnt clr fr each string. Hw: Put cursr in frnt f the text string inside the TEXT BOX that we want t repsitin, and then press space bar t mve the text string. Nw, yur first message is ready. Step 2: Add effects (presentatin functins) t Text Layer select Message In Functins (multiple effects can be added) then select speed fr each effect. Then select Message Out Functins (this is hw text will exist befre the next frame appears) and speed fr the effect. Nte: Effects used and assigned in Basic Mde applied t the entire frame including all the lines in a frame. Advanced Editing Mde allws presentatin functin cntrl ver each LINE f text. (See Advanced Editing Mde fr mre inf.) Imprted vide / animatin will play nce by default. Set animatin lp effect if vide file is t be played mre than nce. Effect duratin pririty duratin is cntrlled by whichever layer (text r backgrund) has the lngest playtime. Vide backgrund will lp and repeat if text layut effects has lnger playtime. Adding New Frame Menu Frame Add Frame this will add a frame right after the current frame. New frame is created in the same editing mde as the current frame. Insert Frame this will insert a frame right befre the current frame. New frame is created in the same editing mde as the current frame. Delete Frame this will delete the frame selected. Add AFrame this will add a frame in Advanced Mde right after the current frame. Add BFrame this will add a frame in Basic Mde right after the current frame. Select frame by clicking n the Frame Windw r use Frame Inspectr. Red brders arund the Effect Windw indicate current frame selected. T activate Frame Inspectr: View Frame Inspectr Saving and Uplading yur Presentatin When yu are dne cmpsing all the frames, yu are ready t save and uplad yur presentatin (message). T save Menu File Save r Save As name yur file. T uplad simply click n the buttn in the tl bar. Or Menu Cmmand Send This will send all the frames in the presentatin (message) currently pened. If yu have multiple presentatins (messages) created and want t uplad all, use Schedule Messages feature. See Schedule Messages sectin fr mre infrmatin. Typically, every 8 pixels high equals t a line. Max. fnt size is limited t 8 pixels high. Nte: Ttal number f available lines is determined by yur display reslutin. 8 pixels (H) = 1 line. Multiple lines can be merged by clicking n the Numeral divider buttns next t the red bx t increase the fnt size. Different size f fnts can be selected. In this example, available lines are merged frm 5 lines t 3 lines. Larger fnts fr the tp tw lines. Advanced Mde Creating a Message Typing message Instead f typing int a Text Bx like in Basic Mde, mve cursr inside the Frame Windw/Display Area and begin typing. Tip: Use Draft Aut r Letter Aut t aut select best fitting fnt size. Nte: Message r text exceeded Frame windw/display Area can be displayed using Travel functins. Styling Text Unlike Basic Mde, text in Advanced Mde des nt supprt Windws fnts. Hwever, additinal Fnts can be created and imprted using ViViD Fnt Creatr Prgram prvided with the sftware. Fnt Selectin: There are tw fnts included. These are accessed via the Fnt menu in the main tl bar. Fr additinal fnts: use the ViViD Fnt Creatr r Graphic Creatr Prgram t create yur wn custm fnts r imprt Windws fnts. Here we shw the tp line using Draft and secnd line using Letter Aut sizes fnts t the full height f the line, and autmatically increases the size when lines are merged. Advanced Mde Styling Text (cntinued) Selecting a specific size may allw fr certain visual effect. Fr example, the Draft 4x7 fnt is the narrwest, allwing fr the mst character per line. Fregrund/Backgrund icn shws the current setting, as it will appear n the display. The Fregrund menu allws yu t select the clr f the fregrund (the character). Clrs are limited t the clrs f the LEDs in yur display. A clr palette will appear upn clicking the Text Clr buttn. Use cursr and select the desire clr, and make sure desire clr appears in the clr windw r adjust (click) the clr Assigning different clrs fr characters and/r lines is allwed. Tip: Use t randmly assign clr t each character in a string f Text selected. The Backgrund menu allws yu t select the clr f the backgrund (the field, r area where the characters and backgrund graphics / animatins d nt appear.) T apply a change t fregrund/backgrund: 1. Styling Text (cntinued) Bld, Flashing, Shadw, Outline, and Randm Clr Text Styling All these effects can be applied t selected text r befre text is selected t apply the effect in all subsequently entered text. The Bld buttn tggles between bld and plain text The Flash buttn causes text t flash. Flash text is represented by vertical gray bars. Shadw and Outline. This image shws the text Three Lines reversed (red backgrund, black fregrund). The grey vertical bars n the first line f text indicate a flash effect. The wrd NO is highlighted. But then, every time yu wan t change a price, r sme ther frequently changing text, this is the time t use a variable. Variables are placehlders that reference a table where yu can easily change the values, withut having the mess arund with the presentatin. Setting up Variables First create yur table f variables: 1. Styling Text (cntinued) 2. In the left clumn (Value) f the Send Variables windw, type the variable value; e.g. $5.39 3. In the right clumn (Hint), enter a label, fr yur benefit, s yu can identify the variable later; e.g. Hamburger 4. In the center clumns (FreClr, BackClr) set the fregrund and backgrund clr fr yur variable text. 5. Nte the variable number, which is the line number f the table and Click Exit 6. Create a frame (Add AFrame), with the text yu desire. Fr example: Hamburger Special 7. Click n the empty line. 8. Click n the Variable buttn t pen the variable windw. 9. Select the variable number that matches the line f the previus Send Variables windw. If it was n line ne, select VAR01. VAR01 will appear in the frame. When yu send the message t the display, the value will appear in place f VAR01 t change the variable, g t the Send Variables windw again. Change the value, and click the Send buttn. Dynamic Text Effects Glbal Effects Glbal Effects applies the same effect t every line in a frame. Click the Glbal Effects buttn. The effect f the first line will be applied t the whle frame. The ther Line Effects bxes will be grayed ut. Using Frames Frames can be added, inserted, r deleted like Adding Frame in Basic Mde using the Menu bar. Select the last Frame, within the Frame Inspectr, by clicking n it. Use the up arrw and click ne. The third item becmes the secnd item. Click again, and it cmes the first. Use the dwn arrw t mve it back dwn the list. Using the Frame Inspectr fr cpying and pasting (duplicating) Frames: Select the Frame yu want t manipulate in the Frame Inspectr. Click the Cpy Frame buttn. Select the frame yu want the cpied Frame t appear after. Click the Paste Frame buttn. The pasted frame appears, but the previusly selected Frame remains selected. Using the Frame Inspectr fr cutting and pasting Frames: Use the sequence fr cpying and pasting (abve), but select the Cut Frame buttn instead. Using the Frame Inspectr fr deleting Frames: Select the Frame yu want t manipulate in the Frame Inspectr. Click the Delete Frame buttn. Yu can als use the keybard shrtcut Ctrl Delete. Using the Frame Inspectr fr deleting multiple Frames: Select the first Frame yu want t manipulate, in the Frame Inspectr. Merging Files Suppse yu have created a nice message, and saved it. Later, yu create a new message, but yu want the frames frm the ld message added n. This is called merging files. Decide where in yur presentatin yu want the merged filed t appear. Select the Frame yu want the new Frames t appear after in the Frame Inspectr. Select Merge frm the File menu. Yu will see a standard Windws Open dialg bx. Navigate t the file yu want t merge, and select it. Click Open The new frames will appear in the Frame Inspectr. Setting a Passwrd This limits access t ViViD Message Cmpser fr security. T set the passwrd: 1. Menu Setup Change Passwrd 2. In the Change Lgin Passwrd windw, enter the passwrd in the New Passwrd and Cnfirm Passwrd fields. Warning: Be sure yu remember this passwrd. Either chse n that is memrable r make a nte f it, and secure the nte. A gd passwrd is 6 r mre characters, using bth numbers and letters. Temperature Adjustment The temperature returned by the temperature prbe may drift smewhat frm the actual temperature. T adjust: 1. Menu Cmmand Advanced Cmmand Adjust Temperature 2. Measure the utdr temperature at yur lcatin. 3. If the measured temperature is higher r lwer than the display indicates, enter the difference like this: +2F t add 2 degree Fahrenheit t the temperature displayed n the display. Fahrenheit is adjusted in whle number increments. 3F t subtract 3 degrees frm display. +2.5C t add 2.5 Celsius t the temperature displayed n the display. Drawing Using the Tlbar The Tlbar cntains the tls t draw lines, circles, ellipses, text, and custm shapes. It als includes a rubber stamp tl. Tls: The Line Tl allws yu t create straight lines n the Frame Wrkspace. The Circle Tl allws yu t draw utlines f circles in the Frame Wrkspace. Click Circle Tl first. Then, in the Frame Wrkspace, left click and drag the muse until yu have the circle f the desired shape and size. The Ellipse Tl allws yu t draw utlines f ellipses in the Frame Wrkspace. Yu can use the selected stamp and click n the Frame Wrkspace t stamp an image. After yu click the Stamp Tl, a stamp ptin will be shwn. The Default buttn allws yu t chse the stamp file that cntains the stamp images. The Opaque check bx lets yu chse whether r nt the stamp image is paque r transparent. If the Opaque check bx is unchecked, the amber clr f the icn will becme transparent. The Stamp Images can be resized by using the + and buttns.
