Welcome to the nonprofit Hiway Theater The Hiway Theater is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. A D M I S S I O N General...$10.50 Members...$5.00 Members as of January 2015...$6.00 Seniors (62+) & Students...$8.00 Matinees Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri before 4:30 Sat & Sun before 2:30...$8.00 Wed Early Matinee before 2:30...$7.00 Affiliated Theaters Members...$6.00 You must present your membership card to obtain membership discounts. Member tickets. Member tickets will be $6. That s a 43% discount from the general admission price of $10.50. And membership entitles you to a $6 ticket at all Renew theaters (County, Ambler, Hiway, Garden) as well as at all participating Art House Theaters nationwide. Why the price increase? Because our film distributors require it. Each movie that we screen is supplied by a film distributor. They share in our ticket revenues. In order to maintain our relationships with them, we must implement competitive price increases. Or they will not continue to supply us with their movies. Effective January 1, 2015. We first announced this change in November of 2013 in our quarterly Previews Magazine, on-screen, and on our website. We delayed the change as long as we could, but it is finally time to implement it. Policies Children under 6 Children under age 6 will not be admitted to our films or programs unless specifically indicated. Late Arrivals The Theater reserves the right to stop selling tickets (and/or seating patrons) after a film has started. Outside Food and Drink Patrons are not permitted to bring outside food and drink into the theater. Accessibility & Hearing Assistance The Hiway Theater has wheelchair-accessible auditoriums and restrooms, and is equipped with hearing enhancement devices. (For headphones, please see the theater manager when you arrive.) Parking Check our web site for parking information. How can you support the Hiway Theater? Be a member. Become a member of the nonprofit Hiway Theater and show your support for good films and a cultural landmark. See back panel for a membership form or join online. MAIN ATTRACTIONS Main Attractions What main films will play at the Hiway? Predicting in advance what films will play at our beloved one-screen Hiway is the biggest challenge that we face. It is very hard to know ahead of time. The films listed here are an educated guess. Our website is always the best place to get up-to-the-minute information. Scheduling our main films is weekto-week. On Monday, we decide what main film will play starting that Friday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we set the showtimes for the upcoming week and then update our website and telephone hotline. We also send out a weekly email (sign up at our website). Sometimes, we book a main film a few weeks in advance, which we post on our website. For our latest Main Attractions plans, visit: HiwayTheater.org. (Or call our Hotline at 267-864-0065) The Imitation Game The Imitation Game UK - 1 hr 53 min - Morten Tyldum In THE IMITATION GAME, Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Alan Turing, the genius British mathematician, cryptologist, and computer scientist who led the charge to crack the German Enigma Code, which helped the Allies win WWII. But while leading his team of scholars and intelligence officers, Turing was hiding secrets of his own. This thrilling historical account also stars Keira Knightley and Matthew Goode. The Theory of Everything UK 2 hr 3 min James Marsh Eddie Redmayne gives a gripping performance as famous physicist Stephen Hawking in this stirring drama about his relationship with his wife Jane and their joint battle against his illness. As Hawking s ideas expand to encompass time and space, his physical abilities contract. This remarkable chronicle of one of the greatest minds of our time is also the story of two unstoppable spirits. Wild USA - 1 hr 55 min - Jean-Marc Vallée Reese Witherspoon delivers one of the year s best performances in this dramatization of one woman s solo 1,100-mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. At once an epic cinematic experience and a profoundly intimate personal narrative, WILD is an odyssey of loss and self-discovery. Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyers Club) directed this adaptation (by Nick Hornby) of Cheryl Strayed s best-selling memoir.

This spring s groundbreaking new productions include a staging of the classic Treasure Island, a new play by Tom Stoppard, and a special Broadway production of Of Mice and Men. Tickets: $18 General $16 Members JOHN JOHN is a new dance-theatre work by Lloyd Newson, Artistic Director of DV8 Physical Theatre. It depicts real-life stories with movement and spoken word to create an intense, moving, and poignant theatrical experience. Based on documentary interviews, what emerges is a story of crime, drugs, and the struggle to survive. Be forewarned, JOHN contains adult themes, strong language, and nudity and is not suitable for viewers under the age of 18. Treasure Island Robert Louis Stevenson s 19th century story of murder, money, and mutiny is brought to life in a thrilling new stage adaptation by Bryony Lavery. On a dark, stormy night, the innkeeper s granddaughter opens the door to a terrifying stranger. An old sailor opens a huge sea chest full of secrets and so begins an adventure with buccaneers in search of buried gold. This production is suitable for children 10 & older. FROM BROADWAY County: March 8 Sun 12:30 Ambler: March 15 Sun 12:30 Hiway: March 19 Thurs 7:30 County: April 26 Sun 12:30 Ambler: May 3 Sun 12:30 Hiway: May 7 Thurs 7:30 NT County: May 24 Sun 12:30 Ambler: May 31 Sun 12:30 Hiway: June 4 Thurs 7:30 NT Of Mice and Men 2 hr 35 min including one intermission In addition to NT Live, we will screen this Broadway revival, recorded live during its award-winning 2014 run. Starring James Franco and Chris O Dowd, it s based on the best-selling novel, which Steinbeck adapted for the stage in 1937. Set in California during the Great Depression, the story follows two migrant workers: George, sharp but uneducated, and Lennie, large and simpleminded. When Lennie accidentally stirs up trouble, George must choose between his friend and his quest for the American dream. The Hard Problem Acclaimed playwright Tom Stoppard returns to the National Theatre with his highly-anticipated new play, directed by Nicholas Hytner. A young psychology researcher at a neuroscience institute contemplates the troubling question: If there is nothing but matter, what is consciousness? This hard problem puts her at odds with her colleagues, including her first mentor, her boss, and the billionaire founder of the institute. Man and Superman Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma star in this exhilarating reinvention of George Bernard Shaw s witty, provocative classic based on the Don Juan myth. A romantic comedy, an epic fairy tale, a fiery philosophical debate, MAN AND SUPERMAN asks fundamental questions about how we live. Tom Stoppard CAMERA PRESS/Laura Hynd/Redux

2014 ANNUAL APPEAL Support the Hiway Dear Friend of the Hiway Theater, YOUR SUPPORT IS THE FOUNDATION OF OUR SUCCESS. Here is what some of you have said about us: Love the venue, the location, choice of films and the theater is beautiful and convenient! Through films, lectures, and other events, it brings a little bit of the larger world to our small community. I like being connected in that way. At first it was a Christmas present. After that, it was my choice. I love the theater and the selection of films. I enjoy the National Theatre Live. This venue provides access to stage performances that I otherwise would not be able to afford. Thank you! CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE. We finished the last fiscal year in the black and we are starting to have a small cushion of funds for emergency repairs to our classic 1913 theater. However, we still need to do window and roof repairs, as well as fixes to our HVAC units. We continue to need your support. MAKE A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE GIFT TODAY. Your gift will help us to continue to run this great historic theater. Make your gift in one of two ways: (1) by mail, using the form below, or (2) online at HiwayTheater.org/donate.
