I spy with my little eye the letter M. Hey, your name begins with the letter M too! Continue with other letters. **Before you begin to read a book to your child, turn the book upside down. Ask your child if this is the correct way to read a book. **Check out several books from the library. After reading them to your child, pick out a favorite together. Each of you can draw a picture of your favorite story. As your child is work, ask him/her questions about the drawing. Why did he/she pick a certain color? What is going to happen next? Etc. etc.

Books to the Ceiling by Arnold Lobel Books to the ceiling, books to the sky, My piles of books are ten miles high. How I love them! How I need them! I'll have a long beard by the time I read them Let's go to the library (sung to the tune of This is the Way we Wash Our Clothes) Let's all go to the library The library, the library Let's all go to the library, And see what we can do. Look at books at the library, the library, the library. Look at books at the library. That's what we can do. The Library [Sing this one to "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star"]: The library is the place for me. It has lots of books, you see. I check them out, one by one, and return them when I'm done. The library is the place for me. It has lots of books, you see. Read A Book (tune: "Row Row Row Your Boat") Read, read, read a book, travel anywhere. Worldwide, you decide; a book will take you there. Said This Little Reader Said this little reader, "I'm as tired as can be." (Yawn and stretch) Said this little reader, "My eyes can hardly see." (Shade eyes) Said this little reader, "I'd like to go to bed." (Rest head on hands) Said this little reader, "I want to rest my head." (Rest head on hands, other side) Said this little reader, "Close the book with me." (Put palms together as if closing book) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5; they tiptoed off to bed. (Make fingers tiptoe) Just as still as still could be. (Put finger to lips) Storytime at the Library (To the tune of : Wheels on the Bus) We go to storytime at the library, At the library, at the library. We go to storytime at the library Every week!
