The Town and Country Chorus NOTES NEWS and VIEWS for March 27, 2018 Congratulations to Jim Hartman and the Defiance Northwesternaiers on another great show! This Johnny Appleseed District chorus always ranks among the top performers in their district and it s easy to see why. They did a fine job in bringing a good story to the audience and backing it with choice song picks. The Hemidemisemiquaver 4 did a superb job as well. They brought some of their favorite standards to the stage as well as a new number or two. Dave, Dave, Doug, and Don continue to deliver top notch music choices with wonderful harmonies. The Windsor Quartet represented the Sweet Adelines International very well too. These young ladies also brought first class harmonies to the Defiance Community Auditorium to complete a great day of barbershop in Defiance, Ohio. SING-OUTS Get your calendars and pencils out again my friends, we have a couple notations to make. First of all, the tentative sing-out on July 21 has officially been removed from the calendar. This was the quartet performance for the Hillsdale Order of the Eastern Star. The Friday evening May 11 sing-out I d referred to earlier is actually located at the Church of The Nazarene in Reading, not the UMC. My apologies. A potato bar is being offered at 6:00 pm with the chorus singing afterwards. Todd has brought a request for the chorus to do a Sunday morning service at the Adrian First Presbyterian Church on June 3. This is a superb opportunity for the chorus to bring barbershop to a new venue and to share with the church and members of the community. Further details will be coming. Also, the Women s Aglow International of Adrian has asked us to sing on a Saturday in July. First choice of dates for our host is Saturday, July 28 at 2:00 PM. Second date to consider would be Saturday, July 14. Please check your calendars for these two times and hopefully we ll be able to schedule some singing with these folks. SPRING SHOW There will be a Spring Show meeting Tuesday, April 3 at 6:00 PM. Please be gathering your favorite one-liners, skits, and other humorous items for the Spring Show. We ll use these in between the songs. Bring them in and let s hear em! Show flyers, tickets, and advertising packets are all ready for you to start selling. If you don t have your information please make a point of talking with Todd Hoath. Todd will get you all setup with what you need. You can bring your ticket and advertising sales monies to Todd at any time.
Our Spring Show is THE biggest fund raiser the Town & Country Chorus has in our calendar year. This event generates funds to purchase music, pay royalty fees, maintain the riser trailer, finance area youth to attend harmony camps, and among many other items - enables us to pay our director. It is really important for everyone to step up and grab hold of their responsibility to help raise these needed funds that keep us in business. CONGRATULATIONS Lynn Lamberson was our raffle winner last week, congratulations Lynn and thank you for directing us in the closer.
