mplifiers STRLINE 2000 Broadband Telecommunications Distribution mplifier [BT*/*] mplifier (model BT*/*). This next generation Broadband Distribution amplifier leads the industry in features and performance and is designed to meet the needs of today's expanding broadband communication networks. This quad, power-doubled output amplifier boasts 870 MHz expanded bandwidth and 1 analog channel capability in a three-stage hybrid design. The high operational gain of the BT permits the amplifier to be strategically placed within the system topology for distributing broadband telecommunications signals. "Tree and branch" architectures are easily upgraded to Fiber to the Feeder (FTF) designs with the advanced feature set of this amplifier. Optional Gallium rsenide (Gas) hybrids offer improved distortion performance over conventional bi-polar silicon hybrids. Compared to silicon, Gas distortion performance remains linear at significantly higher output levels reducing system costs. The STRLINE 2000 BT, like its predecessor model, the BTD-75SH, provides power factor correction in the power supply design. This feature lowers current draw of the amplifier and improves the overall system power supply efficiency. The 60/0 V power pack outputs a regulated 24 Vdc at 2.0 mperes maximum, over an C input voltage range from 38 to 0 Vac RMS, square or sine wave. FORWRD PTH The operational gain of the STRLINE 2000 BT is 35 db at 870 or 750 MHz. The 870 MHz version has 16 db return loss at all ports for maximum power transfer. Shipped with a thermally guided compensation network, the STRLINE 2000 BT ensures constant gain of the hybrid IC's at all operating temperatures. The interstage Bode equalizer compensates for coaxial cable attenuation changes due to temperature. Equalization is controlled manually (standard), thermally (model TDU - optional), or via a single pilot, closed loop driver (model DU-XXX/* - optional). Both the TDU and DU boards are common to the STRLINE 2000 family of amplifiers. DUs now utilize Surface coustic Wave (SW) filters for determining pilot frequency, thus improving the amplifier's stability over temperature. The added compensation network and Bode equalizer features enhance the amplifier's distortion performance during temperature changes. The BT amplifier can be configured with an S-split filter for a 5-40 MHz return and a 52-870 MHz forward band. J- splits (5-55 MHz, 70-870 MHz), -splits (5-65 MHz, 85-870 MHz), K-splits (5-42 MHz, 54-870 MHz), and E-splits (5-30 MHz, 47-870 MHz) are also available. These same filters will be used for all Motorola STRLINE 2000 Series of distribution amplifiers. To further ensure system flexibility, installation ease and maintenance, the amplifier is engineered for compatibility with standard accessories including: attenuators, equalizers, DU-TDU, return amplifiers, automotive fuses, and FTEC/MB crowbar circuits. RETURN PTH amplifier kits can be ordered with high gain hybrids providing 17 db minimum station gain. path equalizers from 0 to 12 db can be customer selected. The BT's new optional features include thermal compensation and ingress control switching. Thermal compensation comes in the form of plug-in JXP-TH2 or JXP-TH3 modules, which stabilize gain and match over temperature extremes. Ingress Control Switching in 3 states comes in the form of a pin diode. This pin diode attenuator circuit can lower levels by 6 db or by >40 db with a controlled slew rate for minimum bit errors. The LIFELINE TM status monitoring transponder, model LL-BT-*/*, is required to operate the Ingress Control Switch from a remote location. Specifications are subject to change without notice. 27 S.W. 30 th venue Deerfield Beach, Florida 33442 Phone: (54) 312-1200 Fax: (54) 312-77 BT - 2

mplifiers STRLINE 2000 Broadband Telecommunications Distribution mplifier [BT*/*] NETWORK MONITORING The optional LIFELINE TM status monitoring transponder, model LL-BT-*/*, handles RF electronics performance, measurement controls, and alarm generation. The LL-BT-*/* monitors C line voltage, power supply voltage, RF level in forward and return, internal temperature and features an optical tamper switch. Various receive and transmit frequencies are available. Please refer to the BT*/* configurator for frequency selection. CONFIGURTION To reduce customer costs and to accommodate a customer's specific needs, the BT*/* can be fully configured in Motorola's factory at no additional cost to the customer. Refer to the attached BT*/* configurator for options (see below).
