A Boot Camp for Beginning! Adult Rock Camp 101 with Josh Stark Wednesdays Date: 9/16/2015-12/2/2015 From: 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm This 11-week boot camp is for beginners. Who s a beginner? If you have never been in one of our boot camps you are likely a beginner. Unless you have some experience playing in a band, please start here. In Boot Camp 101 the focus is on the elements of music making. Here, we ll go slower. You ll learn how all the pieces fit together. If you play a little guitar, bass, keys... you ll kinda want to know just what notes you re playing. No matter what instrument you re interested in, bass, drums, guitar, keys, voice, beat-boxing, we ll cover the principles of theory and of a band and its working parts. And how those parts go together. There are the instruments and there are the arrangements. How can there be an infinite number of songs that use only same three chords? Here is where you get answers to questions like that. Now it won t all be in the abstract. All of this will be taught in the context of learning to play songs together as a band. A band is a team with a shared goal, and to be successful the members must know how to work together. This means some shared musical aptitude, and it also means honing good communication skills. Eye contact is everything. Boot Camp 101 will give you a supply of musical tools and knowledge and prepare you to immerse yourself in a productive and satisfying future band situation. 11 Weeks (in-house performance on the 11th week). $375 STOOGES Boot Camp with Josh Stark Mondays Date: 9/14/2015-11/30/2015 From: 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm The Stooges, also known as Iggy and the Stooges, are an American protopunk band from Ann Arbor, Michigan, first active from 1967 to 1974, and later reformed in 2003. Although they sold few records in their original incarnation, and often performed for indifferent or hostile audiences, the Stooges are widely regarded as instrumental in the rise of punk rock, as well as influential to alternative rock, heavy metal and rock music at large. The Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked them 78th on their list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. --Wikipedia Performance date: the weekend of Dec 3-5 3
