October 23-26, 2014 Ron Cunningham s Sacramento Ballet 2014-2015 6oth Anniversary Season Honoring Barbara Crockett, Founder Dear Friends, December 6-21, 2014 Ron Cunningham s The 2014-2015 season celebrates the 60 th anniversary of the founding of the Sacramento Ballet by the legendary Barbara Crockett. This historic occasion is commemorated with a season of blockbuster story ballet classics highlighting the triumphs of its past and the bright vision of its future. A founding member of the original San Francisco Opera Ballet, Barbara enjoyed a rich and diverse career as a dancer and toured widely with partner Alan Howard of Ballet Russe fame. Moving to Sacramento to start a school and raise a family, she and her late husband, Deane Crockett, created the Sacramento Ballet in 1954. The happy result was the development of generations of dancers exported to companies all over the world, adding greatly to the reputation of Barbara as a master teacher. In 1985, Barbara desired to transition the Sacramento Ballet into a fully professional company and began an exploration to realize her dream. In 1987, Barbara retired and passed the reigns of artistic direction on to husband and wife team, Ron Cunningham and Carinne Binda. Still teaching today, Barbara remains the spiritual icon of the Sacramento Ballet. We invite you to join us for the historic 2014-2015 season to honor her great contribution to the cultural fabric of Sacramento and celebrate her extraordinary life and outstanding achievements. Sincerely, Ron Cunningham & Carinne Binda Artistic Directors Thank You to our Season Sponsor: The WORLD PREMIERE February 13-15, 2015 Ron Cunningham s March 26-29, 2015 Swan Lake May 8-9, 2015 Sacramento City College Main Stage theater

Season 60 Once Upon a Time... Sacramento Ballet 2014-2015 6oth Anniversary Season Honoring Barbara Crockett, Founder Ron Cunningham s The Great Gatsby March 27, 28 & 29 ; March 30 The Roaring 20 s roars back into town with The Great Gatsby. Complete with live music by Billy Novick s Blue Syncopators, the Great American Novel springs to life once again in a delicious retelling of the Prohibition Era s extravagant appetite for the excesses of power, greed, and desire. Ron Cunningham s Peter Pan with George Balanchine's Stars and Stripes February 13, 14, 15 ; February 16 Let your imagination soar on a non-stop flight past the second star on the right to Neverland with the boy who won t grow up. Join Peter, Wendy, Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily, and the Lost Boys as they outwit the nefarious Captain Hook, the baddest pirate of them all. Ron Cunningham s high-flying world premiere of Peter Pan is perfect fun for the whole family. Stand tall and salute the Red, White, and Blue in George Balanchine s rousing Stars and Stripes to the stirring music of John Philip Sousa. High stepping ballerinas and their military cavaliers lead the charge in this infectious tour-de-force of patriotic fervor. Swan lake March 26, 27 & 28 ; March 29 Swan Lake, the most famous ballet of all time, returns to the Sacramento stage after an absence of fifteen years. Timeless beauty, compelling drama, and poetic passion weave a spellbinding tale of true love conquering all. Sumptuous scenery, opulent costumes, and stellar dancing combine to create an evening of enthralling magic. Masters In homage to the past, this year s Masters focuses on the creative talent nurtured during their formative years by founding director Barbara Crockett. Jodie Gates, Parrish Maynard, and Robert Kelley present innovative works forged in the inspired crucible of the early Sacramento Ballet. Bridging the past to the future, Ron Cunningham reprises his intensely dramatic Incident at Blackbriar, the very first work he staged for the Sacramento Ballet. Add to Your Subscription: Ron Cunningham s The Nutcracker The Nutcracker is a perfect recipe for Holiday tradition; add children, parents, grandparents, mix, stir, repeat. No matter how many times you ve seen Sacramento s crown jewel of family entertainment, it never fails to charm and delight. Clara s dream journey of sweet confection creates family memories of a lifetime to cherish over and over again. The Nutcracker is Sponsored by:
