PRESS RELEASE New season children s theatre brings shows for babies to 11 year olds so there s plenty of fun as the weather gets colder! Listings can be found at the end of this press release. Whether you re introducing your baby to theatre for the first time or have an older child who loves great storytelling, there s something for everyone this season: laughter, interaction, fairy tales, dance and more! Relax with your baby in Old Saw s Duvet Day (6-18mths) a sensory theatre production for babies grab your pyjamas and snuggle up as your imagination takes you into the forest, under the sea and beyond. Older kids will love Comedy Club 4 Kids, where comedians on the circuit do their thing for kids like a comedy club, but without the rude bits! It s part of our River Weekender (Fri 16 Sun 18 Sept) when there will be loads of activities for all the family: paint the Thames, build your own houseboat and dig in our giant sandpit! Continuing our partnership with top dance festival Dance Umbrella we bring you the brand new show TETRIS (6+), performed by Arch 8 Dancers. This awesome piece of dance theatre is based on the eponymous computer game of strategy and fun with four dancers working as a perfect unit, uniquely dependent on one another, their legs and arms twisted together in complex knots. Adults will love it as much as kids. Talented Peut Etre Theatre joins us for the October Half Term with their beautiful interpretation of The Tin Soldier (3+), using dance and toys. Enchanting and heart-warming, it s a must see for all the family and as it s part of Fairy tales and Fables Week, there will be lots of fun creative workshops to take part in too. Early booking is advised if you want tickets for the fun and engaging stage adaptation of Janet and Allan Ahlberg s charming picture book Burglar Bill (3+) performed by Pied Piper Theatre. Puppets, song, dance and an exciting set will capture the spirit of this much-loved story. Rekindle your child s love for books, reading and libraries with Monstro Theatre s new pioneering puppet musical Bookstory (6+); Bringing to life the celebration of books. At the end of the season we are delighted to see the return of Lyngo Theatre for an amazing Christmas show Snow Play (3+); enter a winter wonderland in this slapstick comedy with non-stop entertainment from start to finish as we follow the adventures of Mr White and Mr Green. The perfect treat to get the whole family feeling festive! With a large café, car park and playground in the park next door, Watermans makes a great afternoon out for all the family!

Sunday 18 Sept, 3pm Comedy Club 4 Kids by Makin Projects Age: 6+ years Running time: 60mins The ever popular Comedy Club 4 Kids were a huge hit with audiences as part of the Shakespeare Weekender earlier this year. Watermans is delighted to have them back again as part of the River Weekender. Since 2005, the Comedy Club 4 Kids has been getting the best stand-ups and sketch acts from the international circuit to do their thing for an audience of children (aged 6+) and their families but without the rude bits! It's just like a normal comedy club, but it's on during the day, kids are in the audience, and thus there is a higher than usual chance of heckles. Sunday 25 Sept, 3pm Molly s Marvellous Moustache by Fidget Theatre Age: 3-7 years Running time: 50 minutes

Molly wants to be just like the grown-ups. So her Mummy makes her a moustache. With her moustache she can go anywhere and do anything she likes. She can launch an expedition to the heart of the jungle, blast off into space and create incredible inventions. But being a grown up isn t all fun. What if Molly has to eat olives and spicy, spicy sauce? And what about having to go to work? Molly s Marvellous Moustache is a new theatrical adaptation of the original storybook, written by Andrea Heaton and illustrated by Talya Baldwin CHILDREN S EVENTS OCTOBER 2016 Sunday 2 Oct, 2pm and 4pm Princess & The Pea by Banyan Theatre presenting a Polka Theatre production Age: 3-7 years Running time: 45 mins Once upon a stormy night, while the wind and the rain were howling outside, the Royals were all tucked up warm in bed. Suddenly there came a knock at the door and a very wet, very untidy girl was brought inside... This quirky and inventive adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen s bedtime tale is played out among sheets and blankets with puppets, objects and dreamlike projections. Sunday 9 Oct, 3pm Bookstory by Monstro Theatre Age: 6+ years Running time: 60mins All the books are happy in Brian s busy library. Thriller or Textbook, History or Romance they all love to be borrowed. But one day Brian goes all quiet. And so does his library. Doesn t Brian care about his books anymore? The only book he s reading now is that funny, shiny-looking one that says it has four billion pages. Will they all be left on the shelf? Dive into the real world of books in Monstro theatre s new pioneering puppet musical that tells the story of the story in the digital age, using puppetry and dynamic performance to bring to life this celebration of books, reading and libraries. Sunday 16 Oct, 3pm Tetris by Dance Umbrella presents Arch 8 Dancers Age: Suitable 6+ years Running time: 50mins Choreographer Erik Kaiel s work is unorthodox, acrobatic and perfect for children (and grown-ups) who can t sit still. Inspired by playground games and the casual way that kids fling themselves about, these dancers tumble and contort, exploring the limits of their bodies.

Phoebe reads about an exciting creature called a Penguinpig on the Internet. Filled with delight and intrigue, she sneaks out of the house and sets off alone on an adventure to find the adorable creature leading her to the Zoo. But what will she find inside? A cautionary tale told through puppetry, catchy songs and original music offering a fun-filled show that is educational and highly entertaining. Tue 25 Oct, 11am Wed 26 Fri 28 Oct, 11am & 3pm Sat 29 Oct, 2pm The Tin Soldier by Peut Etre Theatre Age: 3+ years Running time: 50mins This half term Watermans brings you Fairy tales & Fables with lots to do for children and their grown-ups including this must-see enchanting, fun and heart-warming production for all the family. It s winter and a newly minted tin soldier stands on a single leg, having been the last one cast from an old tin spoon. Nearby, he spies a paper ballerina, also standing on one leg, and the soldier falls in love. But the course of true love cannot run smooth and the soldier falls into an adventure to test and melt the bravest of hearts. CHILDREN S EVENTS NOVEMBER 2016 Sunday 6 Nov, 3pm Rapunzel & the Temple of Doom by Theatre of Widdershins Theatre Age: 4+ years Watermans is delighted to see the return of Theatre of Widdershins with this popular show. Tangles? Split Ends? Frizzy? Flyaway? It s hard enough having a bad hair day but pity poor Rapunzel spending her life in a tower with a wicked old witch using her captive s locks as a step ladder! This enchanting show

Sunday 13 Nov, 3pm The Tinderbox by Norwich Puppet Theatre Age: 4+ years Norwich Puppet Theatre breathes new life into Hans Christian Andersen s tale of magic, bravery and love with puppetry, animation and music. A roguish soldier acquires a magic tinderbox which gives him the power to summon three extraordinary dogs to do his bidding. The soldier goes on a remarkable roller coaster adventure from rags to riches and back again! Will he survive and win the love of the beautiful princess? Sunday 20 November, 3pm Gingerbread! by Hand to Mouth Theatre Age: 4+ years Running time: 45 mins Martin is busy baking biscuits and cakes in the kitchen. As he mixes the sugars and spices to tell the story of The Gingerbread Man, he adds a sprinkling of songs and a generous helping of humour, and combines it all with his dextrous glove puppetry. With the addition of five fruit and vegetables with minds of their own and an overflowing saucepan (Grimm s Magic Pot story), Martin finds he has more to deal with than a hyperactive ginger biscuit! Sunday 27 November, 3pm Silver Moon by Cie Animotion Age: 4-11 years A seasonal and touching tale about the value of friendship and the power of the imagination. On a cold Christmas Eve two children meet, unexpectedly. Helda may be poor and lonely but her imagination is filled with her grandfather s folk tales. Jurgen may be surrounded by beautifully wrapped presents but he needs a friend to make his everyday magical. But what will happen when the clock strikes midnight and the silver moon is high in the air..contains live music, masked play, shadow puppetry and movement. CHILDREN S EVENTS DECEMBER 2016
