SEPTEMBER 22 2018 Passion and Longing Our 69th season celebrates Aspects of Love, and we open with two composers, Richard Wagner and Johannes Brahms, who expressed love in completely opposite ways. The program begins with Wagner s Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Then talented soprano Yunjin Kim will join us for the Wesendonck Lieder, using her luminous voice to bring to life the burning passion of Wagner s love affair with a Swiss banker s wife. The first half ends with highlights from armen, opera s famous sultry seductress. The concert closes with the second symphony of Johannes Brahms, with sunny and cheerful music that masked his lifelong unrequited love for lara Schumann, wife of celebrated composer Robert Schumann. Participate in our Music Director Search The 2018-19 concert season will be one unlike any other in Wyoming Symphony Orchestra history. For the first time, four candidates will compete to become the WSO s new music director. Each candidate will visit asper for one week, during which they will conduct a concert, meet and work with our musicians, staff and board, experience the community firsthand, present a pre-concert talk and participate in an educational activity. This search is for you, our patrons. We will conduct surveys at the end of each concert, as your feedback will be integral to this search; while we are positive each candidate coming in is uniquely qualified for the position, we want to select the person who will be the best fit for the needs of this community. Your input will help us ensure we do. To actively participate and stay updated, we encourage you to go online and research the candidates, follow our Facebook page and sign up for our email newsletter. We look forward to seeing you this season! For more info 307.266.1478 www.wyomingsymphony.org 225 S. David Street, Ste.
