2 About the Comosition An u-temo iece in G minor, Triangle o the Temest is a ast moving comosition with interesting rhythmic challenges and dynamic color shits. The (A) section is based on a reeating -measure rogression. From the oening bell-tone and syncoated low brass igures, each section builds in intensity as new elements are added in the subsequent bars. Rhythmically, the attern in the (A) section (mm. 1-) ollows a two-bar orm: the irst bar o the two has a dotted quarter-eighth syncoated igure, and the rhythms in the second bar all rimarily on the beats. The unctuated oen voicings in the low brass sound big and rich as melody in the uer winds loats above. The (B) section in mm. 7-52 changes tone and moves to the relative B maor. The trumets carry the heroic melody between sonorous maor chords in the low winds underneath and a soaring woodwind obbligato above. The alternating syncoated bar/non-syncoated bar orm continues through this section. Overall, the ercussion section is active, and the snare and toms work together to create ower and drive. The mallet arts are integral or highlighting the eel o syncoated melodies throughout. They are imortant or establishing sections such as mm. 5-0 where the iece goes back to G minor, receding the return to the (A) section in mm. 1-. or onscreen use only Intertwining motis at m.10 oer a variation on the (A) theme where the melodic entrances haen at one-measure intervals. The tone changes again, and the temo slows slightly in the lowing and magical (C) section at m. 12, as the iece moves again to the relative B maor. Reeating legato woodwind lines along with sarkling wind chimes and bells create the musical background or the maestic Horn melody. At m. 15, there is a brie anare statement that reares the return to G minor and the (A) theme. The static G edal-oint builds tension at m. 19 as the ram-u to the ending begins. The band is roaring at m. 202 as the high instruments begin a our measure syncoated question/answer section with the low instruments. Another our bars o crescendoing, legato lines at m. 20 set u the high energy tutti igures at m. 211 as the iece concludes with a inal exlosive ensemble hit.
