Directed and produced 3 90-second adverts for the Open University, broadcast on BBC2. Of Gods and Gurus, Produced and directed 3 x 10 min documentaries on Hinduism in the UK. The Portrait of the Artist Produced and directed a 5-min art documentary for BBC2, presented by Matthew Collings. Mission to Mars 45-minute documentary about Beagle 2, the British space mission to Mars based at the Open University. Directed shoots in Paris and the UK with Blurr and Damien Hirst. Found contributors, interviewed designers and fashion journalists, researched archive, and recce d locations. Classic Homes (Channel 4 / Uden Associates, 1998) DIRECTOR Directed The Terrace House and In The Suburbs, two 24 programmes in an 8-part series on the social history of the British home, narrated by John Peel. Strongly character-based, the programmes use ordinary homes and their occupants to tell the social history of the terrace house and the suburbs. The Day The Guns Fell Silent (BBC1, Nov 10, 11, 1998) RESEARCHER Two 50 history documentaries on the Armistice told through the words of those who lived through it. Found contributors, recce d locations, researched archival documents and photos. Uden Associates (1997/8) DEVELOPMENT PRODUCER Researched and developed Classic Home series commissioned by Channel 4, and anthropology documentary with Jonathon Miller for BBC2. A Different Path (ABC [USA] / Catholic Communication Campaign, Jan 96) WRITER / DIRECTOR 54 religious doc on American nuns. Strongly character-based and observational, the film asks nuns if this is a valid way of life for women in the 90s. My proposal won $200,000 grant. Directed from conception to fine cut. A Breakthrough in Transplantation (The Visual Connection, Sept 1996) WRITER / RESEARCHER / DIRECTOR Developed concept, researched and directed 12 medical promotional video for Roche Products Ltd on a new drug for organ transplant recipients, shot in five locations in the US and UK. 50 science/alternative medicine doc about the collaboration between the Dalai Lama and a Boston cardiologist to investigate the effects of meditation on stress. Post-production research.
