Parents The process of selecting books begins in early January when each department begins to reevaluate their book selections for the next school year. Each department head works with the members of his/her department to determine if they want to stay with the same book or switch to a different book. Often, they will choose to adopt just an electronic version of the book and in other cases they choose an electronic book that not only contains the text but additional resources such as online activities, videos, links to supplementary materials, quizzes, etc. Sometimes, teachers determine they do not need a traditional book to teach the course. At other times, they have come to the conclusion they weren t using the book enough to justify having parents pay for the book. In those cases, teachers accumulate a variety of resources of their own. This has the effect of being a substitute for the book. All of this is done in an effort to allow teacher s the opportunity to pick the best resources(s) to teach their class while also working diligently to keep the price of books down for parents. As a parent of two alumni and a third currently at Blessed Trinity, I completely understand that books are expensive. Once these decisions are made, department heads then input their printed book selections into the MBS back-end system. MBS then determines the availability of the book and whether or not they can get sufficient quantities of books to fulfill demand. In some cases, a new version of a book must be chosen as the previously used version can no longer be purchased by MBS in quantities large enough to guarantee demand. All of this leads to the list you see before you. If one level of a course calls for a different book than another, we ask that you trust the list. If one level requires a book while another doesn t, we ask that you trust the list. If a book for a course is different on this list than what was used last school year, please trust the list. Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the estimated prices for the ebooks and novels that will be provided by the school to students. It is possible these prices could be different but in those cases the change will not be significant. I am providing these estimates to help you budget for book purchases. The good news is the prices for the ebooks last year turned out to be 100% accurate and we hope the same will be true this year. Please know that a great deal of work has gone into the list you see before you and that much of the information has been checked by multiple people for accuracy. This list represents exactly what the teachers have asked for the upcoming school year. Please use this list exactly as written to help guide you in making sure your student has the correct materials when school begins in the fall.
