Reach your community through the ACADIANA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA 2011-2012 Concert Season Becoming a supporter of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra should be important for every citizen of Acadiana. Your financial contribution will: Enable the premier cultural and educational non-profit organization in the region to fulfill its mission. Bring the gift of live music and appreciation of the arts to a variety of audiences thereby enriching the culture of our community and enhancing the quality of life in Acadiana. Educate youth of the Acadiana region and the young at heart. Create business marketing opportunities for your company to reach thousands of potential new clients and customers. In this brochure, you will find a number of ways that you and your company can use to participate as a supporting patron of Acadiana Symphony Orchestra in the 2011-2012 season. The ASO is offering customized sponsorship packages designed to maximize the benefits for every sponsor. The opportunities include scholarships and educational programs of the Conservatory of Music; the newly created chamber music series as well as the main symphonic concert season. Acadiana Symphony s mission is to present the highest quality performances of diverse music that are accessible to the entire community. During the 2011/12 season ASO audiences will enjoy an exciting variety of concerts that include musical masterworks by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Dvorak; jazz performances of legendary Ellis Marsalis and showcase of timeless hits of Frank Sinatra. The highlights of the concert repertoire include beloved masterpieces such as Carl Orff s Carmina Burana, George Gershwin s concert version of Porgy and Bess and a spectacular multimedia presentation of The Planets by Gustav Holst.

Porgy and Bess Gershwin - Porgy and Bess (Concert Version) Featured soloist: Angela Brown, soprano (New York s MET, Italian s La Scala international soloist), and Acadiana Sings! - joined choruses from Acadiana s high schools. Simply Sinatra Special musical tribute to Frank Sinatra and his timeless hits by Steve Lippia and the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. Louisiana Christmas Concert of traditional Christmas musical favorites including performances of Acadiana Sings! (joined choruses of local elementary schools and Boys & Girls Clubs). Special appearances by Louisiana jazz legend, Ellis Marsalis and his Quartet. Carmina Burana 200 singers and instrumentalists presenting most frequently requested symphonic masterpiece by Carl Orff. Mozart and Beyond Classical and Romantic masterworks by Mozart, Schubert and Dvorak, featuring W. A. Mozart s Piano Concerto No. 14, K. 449 performed by Tanya Bannister, piano (1st prize winner, 2005 New Orleans International Piano Competition).

ASO Conservatory & Educational Opportunities BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF ACADIANA PROGRAM: $200,000 This initiative brings music instructions to the underprivileged children of the Acadiana s Boys and Girls Clubs. It sparks creativity and passion, teaches critical thinking, self-discipline and teamwork. It supports academic achievement, increases the rate of graduation and enriches young lives. CONSERVATORY SCHOLARSHIPS: $12,000 The scholarships are awarded to students based on auditions and proof of financial need to cover the tuition expenses. Our goal is to provide quality musical education to every deserving child in the Acadiana region. Average single scholarship: $500. MUSIC LIBRARY: $10,000 Project dedicated to creation of space of learning for ASO Conservatory students. The facility will house scores, sheet music, musical software, audio and video recordings accessible free of charge through listening equipment and computers. SUMMER WORLD OF ARTS CAMP: $5,000 The camp focuses on introducing children to the entire world of culture including music, theater and fine arts. Variety of activities provides one of a kind opportunity for children to learn directly from the finest artists and instructors of Acadiana. ZYDECO A-Z SUMMER CAMP: $3,500 Grammy winning Zydeco artist Chubby Carrier is at the helm of newest educational initiative to teach young people about the origins, history and unique characteristic of Zydeco music, an important part of Louisiana culture. Camp includes joint performance of children, Chubby Carrier, The Bayou Swamp Band and the ASO during Fourth of July Concert. 2010-2011 ASO Conservatory Statistics: Enrollment: 175 students Youth Orchestra: 23 Number of Scholarships: 16 Students performed side by side the ASO: 300 Educational concerts attendance: 6,400 2010-2011 ASO Concert Attendance Statistics: July 2010: 7000 September 2010: 704 (full venue capacity) October 2010: 1480 November 2010: 1440 December 2010: 1880 March 2011: April 2011: May 2011:

Special Projects Funding Needs EDUCATION CONCERT SERIES: $50,000 This series gives thousands of children in the community the chance to experience live orchestral music in an informative, accessible and entertaining way. Four day time concerts are presented to elementary school students of Acadiana free of charge. Pre-concert and post- concert lesson programs are provided to teachers to supplement and enrich the school provided education. CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES: $35,000 ASO is partnering with the Acadiana Center of the Arts in a new initiative to present an interactive chamber music series. Special concerts will feature world class guest artists including Metropolitan Opera star soprano Angela Brown, 1 st prize winners of the New Orleans International Piano Competition as well as members of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Smolij s introduction will guide listeners through extraordinary performances of world s most beloved chamber music literature in a most intimate and inviting atmosphere. VETERAN S DAY CONCERT: $25,000 Acadiana Symphony plans a musical tribute to the United States veterans. If funding is secured, this patriotic, community wide event will take place in Parc International in downtown Lafayette during the Veteran Day weekend in November 2011. EDUCATION PROJECT LINK-UP $15,000 Link-Up is an innovative educational program designed by New York Carnegie Hall s Weill Music Institute. It pairs orchestras across the country with students in grades 3-5 at schools in their local communities to explore orchestra repertoire through a hands-on music curriculum. Acadiana students in 3rd-5th grade music classrooms will learn how to sing, how to play the recorder and learn the basics of musical composition. The program culminates with a concert with the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra at the Heymann Performing Arts Center.
