2 Gerunds and infinitives after verbs in the past Presentation I enjoyed watching the film last night. I decided to go home after the match. After some verbs, we must use the gerund form and after others we must use the infinitive form. After some verbs, like start, begin, continue, prefer, like, love and hate, we can use the gerund or the infinitive forms without changing the meaning. Gerund can t stand, enjoy, finish, imagine, suggest I started doing my homework at six o clock. I preferred playing basketball when I was younger, but now I prefer tennis. Infinitive agree, decide, need, promise, refuse, want, would like I started to do my homework at six o clock. I preferred to play basketball when I was younger, but now I prefer tennis.
