EXCERPTS The list of excerpts will be available to all applicants on the Orchestra Victoria website from 9 December 2017. Copies of audition excerpts may be sent via email upon enquiry on or after 9 December 2016. Queries about hard copy availability and collection should be directed to the Personnel Manager. All applicants will also be sent the excerpts by email after the application closing date. Candidates are required to confirm their attendance at the audition and receipt of excerpts. 2. ACCOMPANIST i. Orchestra Victoria provides an official accompanist, who will be available to all applicants on the day of the audition. Contact details for this accompanist will be available upon enquiry to Sara Pheasant, Personnel Manager, e:orchestrajobs@australianballet.com.au. ii. If you wish to use your own accompanist, he/she must be available for the duration of the audition. If you are planning to use the official accompanist provided, direct contact should be made with the accompanist to arrange a rehearsal time. 3. RECORDED APPLICATIONS i. Applicants may submit a recorded audition; recordings must be audio and video. If you are intending to send recorded auditions, please send through your file electronically using wetransfer.com, dropbox, evernote or yousendit and provide a hard copy on DVD via express post. The file should be sent in one of the following formats: mp4/wav/iso. Recordings must be done in one take and the microphone and camera must remain in the initial position throughout the recording. Please note: DVDs must be accompanied by a notated list of the start time of each excerpt or they will not be accepted. ii. You must also complete the attached Recorded Audition Declaration stating that the recording has not been edited in any way, either by re-recording or by deleting false starts. The declaration should be signed by yourself and the recording technician/witness. You must provide your DVD or electronic file no later than 5.00pm AEST on Thursday 2 February 2017. iii. Orchestra Victoria seeks a musician of outstanding ability for the following position: ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL CLARINET The successful musician/s will be employed as a Contract Musician (3 years) in accordance with the OV-EA 2014-2017 and will be subject to a probationary period of up to six months. The salary range for this position applicable from 1 February 2017 is $76,458 to $96,500 plus superannuation and allowances. The successful candidate will be required to play Eb clarinet and other duties as outlined in the position description below on pages 6 and 7. 2. Associate Principal Players In addition to the duties of Tutti Players, the Associate Principal Players will: i. play principal and secondary parts as required; ii. if approved by the Concertmaster and/or Music Director assume the performing duties of Section Principal if that Section Principal is absent for more than one week; iii. assist the Section Principal in managing the section and preparing parts; iv. share the musical responsibilities of the section and lead the section when required due to rostering or unforeseen circumstances; v. in the case of the strings, sit on the front desk or in another position as required; vi. cover the Section Principal for all programs except those that have been agreed in advance. Associate Principals will play section parts and additional instruments in accordance with the following: Flute: Oboe: Clarinet: Bassoon: French Horn: Trumpet: Trombone: Timpani: Percussion: Alto Flute. Tutti Flute and/or Piccolo if indicated in the Flute part. Oboe d Amore. Tutti Oboe and/or Cor Anglais if indicated in the Oboe part. Tutti Clarinet and/or Eb clarinet and/or Bassett Horn. Tutti Bassoon. Wagner Tuba. Any Trumpet part. Play Bb, C, D, Piccolo Trumpets and Cornet. Any Trombone part other than Bass Trombone and play Alto Trombone if indicated in the score and deemed reasonable by the Player. Percussion parts in consultation with the Percussion Section Principal. Specialist instruments or parts when requested by the Section Principal.
