Current Operational Issues, 08-2005 Time Sync: Bridge connection time. If not accurate, report it. Instructor CPU will send Powerpoint ID slide to Polycom on time, every time. The ID slide will be sent only at the start of the class. Check your eclips to see if digistations are in sync. Report it. Bridge Connect: DDN Polycom MGC bridge will connect, in Continuous Presence display of the Far End sites. Bridge will start and stop on time. Remote sites and cams should always be ON. If room is dark or no one present, notify Help Desk NOW! MJ 140 Document Cam VGA delay: testing this! Better! Record Monitor: Watch this! It shows what is sent to eclips and archives DO a check of your audio and video content everyday. Video Source to PC (VGA People & Content): 3 Second delay is set to allow Polycom to see signal.

Current Operational Issues, 08-2005, p.2 Media Production: Producing audio, video, streaming media, copies of old stuff, class sessions, speakers, etc. In your studio room after hours only. Will be recorded at digicentral on tape and/or captured as Windows Media 9 only. Media conversions will be done at Media Services by tech fellows. CALL Help desk with 2-3 days lead time to arrange for staff. Audio and Video From Remote Sites: Take site role and have each site mute their audio to reduce audio issues. Report Echo and any other irritating audio problem? Sites may have different configurations. Some sites may have PC (VGA People & Content) from PC and/or VGA document camera and they can send you VGA People & Content image. Most will not. K-12 sites now have a good quality site camera and 52 VGA monitor. Noise Abatement During Construction: Will be presented to contractors after bids awarded.

Current Operational Issues, 08-2005 p.3 Audio Issues regarding DVD/VCR to PC (VGA People & Content): The Polycom VSX 8000 requires separate audio definition for PC (VGA People & Content) source and VCR/DVD source. The Polycom will be set to VCR/DVD audio as default. If you switch to Room PC for an audio play or internet site, you may be without audio. Solutions?: Other hardware options, possible Polycom upgrade??? VCR/DVD steps (The Iverson Hack) Select the DVD/VCR ( no need to play anything) Must select Room PC directly. Audio path will remain open and allow PC audio to be heard. Do not select a cam or doc cam setting first. No audio path is there. However, remote sites will see your PC VGA (Content) but only blue screen from your DVD (People). When it is important that they see you and the PC VGA (Content), select the Camera 1 or 2 source first and then Room PC. They will not hear any PC audio. This issue may be resolved in the next Polycom VSX8000 software release.

Current Operational Issues, 08-2005 p.4 Audio Issues regarding DVD/VCR to PC (VGA People & Content): Polycom Menus to change VCR Audio In Mode : to Visual Concert Request this if your audio source is strictly from the PC This requires password access to effect the change.
