About the Festival We started in May 2012 when we organized Munich s first 4- day burlesque festival called Munich Burlesque Weekend. Since 2013 our event is international and open to foreign performers, so it is the international Munich Burlesque Festival. With four full- length shows from Thursday to Saturday and two days full of workshops it is currently the biggest burlesque event and longest running burlesque festival in Germany. There is no contest involved and all performers get paid for their shows! The festival s aim is to introduce various types of burlesque shows to our audience. It shall prove that burlesque is a versatile and challenging stagecraft, and can also be seductive, entertaining and funny. Our intention for you burlesque folks is to simply get together, meet new friends, get new jobs and see what s going on in the scene. We will do our best to make the festival pleasant for the participants and the audience and to make you feel welcome. 1

Regarding the video link: please make sure we can open youtube videos from Germany without restrictions. Often other sites like Vimeo are more likely to work here. Number of Performers: We will choose about 35-40 acts for the three international shows of Thursday and Saturday, mainly soloists and duos. But groups can apply as well! The performers usually perform one act, once. Act length: We do not have a time limit for your acts this year! So no need to cut your act, as we know this is hard. But please consider that your act is more likely to be chosen if it is not longer than 8 minutes. Of course, if your act is so very entertaining and brilliant that nobody realizes it is 15 minutes long you can apply with this length, too ;- ) Minimum length: 3 minutes. Ideal length: 4-6 minutes. 3
Payment and benefits: We do not receive public funding or money from sponsors for our festival. However nobody needs to perform for free at the MUNICH BURLESQUE FESTIVAL. Although, with so many performers in every show the honorarium left for each performer and act isn t huge. We festival organizers are all burlesque performers ourselves and know that the main reason for attending burlesque festivals can t be making money. Still there are very good reasons to apply and perform at our festival and to get some (more) international stage experience and references. We will promote your appearance on our website, on Facebook, on our flyers and press material and we encourage you to promote it yourself, too. Our performer fees are per act, depending on where you come from and your expertise: International Acts: 100 National Acts: 75 Regional Acts (Munich and 1 hour around): 50 Newcomer Acts: 50 (international), 25 (national) Workshops: Are you a burlesque (or related) teacher? Then please tell us what 1- hour- classes you can teach. If you are chosen to teach a workshop on Saturday or Sunday it means good extra money for you. Ask us if you want to know more! Show ticket offers: As a performer you can watch the rest of your own show for free. You can order half price tickets (seated) for all other shows for your personal use as long as these half price tickets are available. Great promo material: most of our official festival photographers will let you use the pictures they take of your act for free. If you need the pictures in high resolution and/or without the photographers logo/name you need to check with the photographer directly. We will have videographers to film your act, too. They will offer you a cut version of your act at a good price. You will get the special hotel rates for performers of the festival. Maybe we can also help to organize some private accommodation! Plus think of the great time you will have performing in our convenient professional theatres, watching the other shows, getting lots of inspiration, taking classes, meeting fellow performers, making new friends, sightseeing in Munich and more. 4
