While implementing Main Press Center project for Sochi-2014 Olympic Games Polymedia has equipped with high technology facilities the following premises: 4 conference halls named after Pushkin, Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky and Chekhov Conference halls at a hotel for media personnel Press room for 500 seats Photo reporter room for 100 seats Entrance zone of the Main Press Center (MPC) Products of Panasonic, a World Olympic Partner and longstanding partner of Polymedia, constitute a bulk of audiovisual equipment. For the sake of optimal controlling information visualization tasks Polymedia integrated into MPC its proprietary Polywall software. The solution facilitates holding press conferences, presentations, video bridges, live broadcast of sport competitions and awarding ceremonies, cultural and promotional events.
The Polymedia project's goal was to create a world class press center that fully correspond to contemporary tendencies and needs of multimedia system users
As part of the project implementation Polymedia has developed a concept of equipping multifunctional conference halls that provides the Main Press Center with the following functionality: Displaying information at a large screen with high image quality Comfortable and trouble-free press conferencing, conducting meetings, negotiations and videoconferences Sound reinforcement of microphone and audio sources signals Integrated control over all the facility using a common intuitive interface Documenting all the events held at the Center Providing simultaneous interpretation to all event attendees
Total space of 158,000 square meters for 2,000 world and Russian leading media personnel and 6,000 TV and radio broadcasters of 70 companies from all over the world. Press working room - 4,500 square meters with 500 work seats Photographer working room - 1,500 square meters with 100 work seats 4 halls for holding press conferences: Pushkin with 465 seats Tolstoy with 220 seats Dostoyevskiy with 140 seats and Chekhov with 50 seats as well as three rooms for preparing speakers to press conferences. Main Press Center conference halls A top table of Pushkin hall is equipped with 12 Element One sliding monitors which facilitate taking spectacular pictures: when photographers work the monitor can be getting off not to cover speaker faces. At Tolstoy and Dostoyevskiy halls information can be repeated to speaker at built-in tablets.
Main Press Center conference halls Panasonic TX-L42DT60 Digital Signage YCD panel of a shared displays unified system is installed at the entrance to every hall. All 4 halls are supported by alone Panasonic HDVC KX-VC600CX videoconferencing codec that allows holding videoconferences at all halls.

Main Press Center entrance zone A video wall and displays located here are combined into Digital Signage system that allows broadcasting competition programs, video, announcements, news and other multimedia content.
The Polywall software (Polymedia s product) is a full pledged visualization control and management tool that allow swiftly and easily controlling hardware and software information sources and display received date in the best demonstrative form. A server part of the solution is installed at a video wall controller while a client part (en editor) runs at an operator's computer with intuitive user interface. Visualization control system
Audio conference system (congress system) Main Press Center congress system provides audio interacting between speakers as well as supporting offline and on-line participants and listeners, simultaneous interpreting, electronic archiving and on-line broadcasting. The system includes table top microphone units of DIS delegates and DIS central unit allowing controlling microphones according to a certain regulations. A hallmark of the equipment is using a crypto algorithm that prevents eavesdropping voice signals at the channel with various radio scanners. The technology is patented and approved by a number of international state security services.
Simultaneous interpreting system Simultaneous interpreting facilities used at press conferences and other events provided comfortable conditions for journalists from all over the world and supported high quality 8 language interpreting in spite of the fact than during Olympic Games 2014 at peak periods they number up to 18 per a day. Documenting and broadcasting system The system performs the following MPC missions: Recording multimedia resources Indexing records relative to electronic resources (slides) Cataloging, storing and review multimedia resources Epiphan VGADVI Recorder Pro recording server provides at any conference hall a possibility to simultaneously record two VGA, DVI and/or HDMI signals as well as analog composite or S-video signal and audio at the same AVI file. Sound system The Main Press Center is equipped with an intelligent sound system on the basis of Biamp and Bose units that enables automate voice control. The function is implemented with Biamp Tesira Server-IO digital network server equipped with additional I/O cards. Using such a system allowed to provide high quality sounds and convenient control over sonic flow inside rooms. The modes are controlled distantly by means of an integrated control system. Bose facilities are used for sound amplification. PowerMatch PM8500N is only 2U in height. It combines very high quality of the best AB class units with D class efficiency. Switching system MPC switching system is designed on the basis of Extron equipment and contains all necessary tools for signal retrieval, conversion and distributing as well as cable passages. Using Extron tools Polymedia consolidated HD-SDI video signals from video cameras at all halls into one DVI Matrix Switchers HDCP- Compliant HD-SDI switch. The integrated system functions correspond to the extreme requirements of the highest audio and video quality inherent to medical equipment, cartography and other institutes where such solutions play a critical role. Main Press Center integrated control system Polymedia Company used its partner Crestron equipment for intelligent controlling all integrated systems of the Main Press Center. The newest Crestron PR03 central controller (six RS-232/422/485 configured control ports, eight infrared ports, eight low-current relays, eight I/O ports, two RJ45 ports for accessing Ethernet 10/100Mbit/s local area network) Crestron TPS-6x table top touch screen control panel Integrated control system provides a possibility to create a individual graphic interface for each system and each user with due regard to ergonomic and even its aesthetic preferences. All the functions of controlling and managing integrated systems are consolidated at a specialized operator's PC. Its graphic user interface can be complemented with simple control functions absolutely clear to any user even without additional training as well as service functions necessary to skilled technicians for fine tuning particular tasks.
