Choir Program Year 1 Choir 30 minutes per week during school day in Cribb Multipurpose Music Performances as per the School Calendar Lower Prep Concerts, School Functions, Gold Coast Eisteddfod A year level choral ensemble where all boys come together and sing. At this young age they learn to find their singing voice and enjoy making music together singing fun songs.

Choir Program Year 2 Choir in Cribb Multipurpose 30 minutes per week during school day Music Performances as per the School Calendar Lower Prep Concerts, School Functions, Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Celebration of Achievement A year level choral ensemble that follows on from Year 1. At this young age boys continue to find their singing voice, extend their vocal range, begin part singing and enjoy making music together. ]

Choir Program Year 3 Choir 30 minutes per week during school day in Cribb Multipurpose Music Performances as per the School Calendar Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod, School Functions Chapel Dress This is a year level choral ensemble that is developmental from Year 1 and 2. Boys will continue to sing in parts and develop their head voice.

Choir Program Years 3 & 4 Choir Thursday Morning, 7.30-8.30am, Pearson Building Prep Music Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod and other performances that arise (limited number) Chapel Dress This is a non-auditioned choir that welcomes boys who really enjoy singing and wish to continue in this fun music making journey. Boys in this ensemble will develop their part singing, their vocal tone and range. There are up to 60 boys in this ensemble.

Choir Program Years 5 & 6 Choir Wednesday Morning, 7.30-8.30am, Prep Hall Prep Music Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod and other performances that arise (limited number), Domestic Music Tour (if running), TSS Anzac Day Ceremony (if required) Chapel Dress This is a non-auditioned choir that welcomes boys who really enjoy singing and wish to continue in this fun music making journey. Boys in this ensemble will develop their part singing and their vocal tone and range. There are up to 60 boys in this ensemble.

Choir Program Camerata Singers Friday Morning, 7.30-8.30am, Prep Hall Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod, Aged Care Concerts, Assemblies, Domestic Music Tour (if running), Mothers Day Morning Tea and other performances as they arise. Chapel Dress This is an auditioned ensemble for boys in Years 3 6 who wish to sing in a smaller group and tackle more challenging repertoire. Boys in this ensemble will perform at special functions as well as regular performances. There are up to 30 voices in this ensemble.

Band Program Year 4 Band Terms 2-4 One hour rehearsal each week during school day (Term 2-4) Wednesday, 12 12.45pm Prep Concerts and Gold Coast Eisteddfod Music & Instrument (supplied), Chapel Dress This Ensemble is for all boys who are part of the Year 4 Instrumental Band Program. Boys begin their lessons in Term 1 and then add the Band to this in Term 2. Boys develop ensemble skills, watching the conductor, listening to others around you, note reading, musical elements among other things. They will have a wonderful time beginning their Band journey with this ensemble. During Term 3 boys from band will be divided into two ensembles to allow for further development at an appropriate pace. In Term 4 boys will need to consider whether they wish to continue the following year and begin private lessons.

Band Program Sousa Band Please note change to rehearsal day Tuesday Morning, 7.30-8.30am, Music Department Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod Music & Instrument(some hire available), Chapel Dress Boys in this ensemble in 2017 will have either come out of the Year 4 Compulsory Instrumental Program or learning privately. This means they will have had a minimum of 12 months tuition. Boys should be approximately Grade 1-2 AMEB Standard and would be encouraged to sit for this exam. Boys will develop their ensemble performance and enjoy making music together.

Band Program Holst Band Please note change to rehearsal day Thurday Morning, 7.30-8.30am, Music Dept Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod Music & Instrument(some hire available), Chapel Dress This ensemble will be primarily made of boys who have come out of the Year 4 Instumental Program and wish to continue learning their instrument. They will continue on their band journey and develop more skills and confidence performing as an ensemble.

Band Percussion Ensemble Wednesday, 8.25am- 8.55am; Music Dept Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod This ensemble is for boys who are enrolled in private percussion tuition. Boys will work in both a tuned percussion ensemble and learn the techniques associated with drumline performance. This ensemble is a really good key to developing technique and performance. Boys in this ensemble are also able to sing choir. They will be released to attend this rehearsal

Band Brute Flutes Wednesday, 8.25am- 8.55am; Music Dept Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod Instrument (some hire available) and Chapel Dress Brute Flutes is an ensemble made up of TSS Prep s flute students who have had a minimum of one year s tuition and are enrolled for private lessons. Brute Flutes offers boys a chance to rehearse and perform repertoire that is fun and challenging, while improving their musicality and ensemble playing. Boys in this ensemble are also able to sing choir. They will be released to attend this rehearsal

Band The Clarinuts (if offered) This is not offered every year TBC at start of each year Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod Instrument (some hire available) and Chapel Dress The Clarinuts is a clarinet ensemble made up of TSS Prep s clarinet students who have had a minimum of one year s tuition and are enrolled for private lessons. The Clarinuts offers boys a chance to rehearse and perform repertoire that is fun and challenging, while improving their musicality and ensemble playing.

Band The Brass Bandits (if offered this is not offered every year) One rehearsal each week TBC Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod Instrument (some hire available) and Chapel Dress The Brass Bandits is a brass ensemble made up of TSS Prep s brass students who have had a minimum of one year s tuition and are enrolled for private lessons. The Brass Bandits offers boys a chance to rehearse and perform repertoire that is fun and challenging, while improving their musicality and ensemble playing.

Orchestra Kreisler Strings Tuesday Morning, 7.30-8.30am, Prep Hall Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod Music & Instrument (hire available) Membership of this ensemble is decided by the string staff. This is a large string orchestra for boys primarily from Years 3 6. All members must be having lessons either at school or outside of school. The boys develop their ensemble playing, music reading and listening skills. Boys should be a minimum of Preliminary AMEB level and would be encouraged to sit for examinations.

Orchestra Cremona Strings Thursday Morning, 7.30-8.30am, Prep Hall Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod, other events Music & Instrument (hire available) This is an auditioned Chamber Ensemble in 2016 (small ensemble). All members must be having lessons either at school or outside school. The boys develop their ensemble playing, music reading and listening skills. This ensemble will be playing advanced repertoire. Auditions will be held in Week 1 and Week 2 of Term 1.

Orchestra Paganini Strings Wednesday Morning, 7.30-8.30am, Music Department Prep Concerts, Gold Coast Eisteddfod, other events Music & Instrument (hire available) Paganini Strings is the Prep School s entry level String Orchestra. Repertoire will mainly feature unison writing. This group provides extension for boys participating in the Year 2 Strings Program, as well as catering for those who are just beginning their string lessons. Emphasis is placed on developing the boy s aural awareness in the ensemble setting.

After School Speech & Drama Club (Year 1 Year 2) Maximum 15 boys per group Each Term (8 lessons per term) except Term 4 One x one hour session each week during term Tuesday Afternoon, 3.30 4.30pm, Pearson Building End of term performance/demonstration TBC This activity is offered to all boys in Year 1 and Year 2. This is a term by term activity. Boys do not need to enroll for the whole year to be part of this exciting program. The activities will seek to develop confidence in boys, improve their communication skills, offer team building, improve performance & confidence, develop mime and improvisation skills and more. All of this is taught in a safe and friendly environment encouraging boys to participate and grow in confidence.

After School Ukulele Club (Reception Year 1) Minimum 5 Maximum 10 boys per group Each Term (8 lessons per term) except Term 4 One x 45 min session each week during term Tuesday Afternoon, 3.30 4.30pm, Cribb Multipurpose End of term performance/demonstration TBC This activity is offered to all boys in Reception Year 1. This is a term by term activity. Boys do not need to enroll for the whole year to be part of this exciting program. All boys will need to purchase an ukulele. All of this is taught in a safe and friendly environment encouraging boys to participate and grow in confidence.
