We Need Your Help for National Library Week April 8 14 We Need Your Help for National Library Week April 8 14 In honor of National Library Week s theme this year, You Belong @ Your Library, we are creating a picture mosaic of the people and businesses in our community. We would love you to be a part of this project! Individual photos will be combined to make a large picture mosaic that represents the Geneva Public Library District. To participate, please upload up to five pictures of yourself, your family, or your local business to mosaic@geneva.lib.il.us by March 18. We ll have the mosaic ready to display during National Library Week, so come and find your picture within the mosaic! If you send us a picture, your name will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a smaller reprint of the mosaic. To see sample mosaics, go to our website: www.geneva.lib.il.us/mosaic. Food for Fines Be a Valentine to your neighbors in need. Contribute to a great cause and help yourself too. One food item donated to the Northern Illinois Food Bank, now located in Geneva, can be exchanged for $1 in overdue Geneva Public Library fines. Please donate only non-perishable items with current freshness dates. Bring your food items to either the Check-In or Check- Out Desks. Sorry, this is only for Geneva Public Library patrons with Geneva Public Library overdue fines. A complete list of acceptable items can be found at www.northernilfoodbank.org. Annual Magazine Sale Annual Magazine Sale The 12th Annual Used Magazine Sale will start on Monday, February 20 and runs until the following week or until they are all sold. The magazines will be available in the lobby by the main entrance. They are bundled by title and sell for $1 per bundle. Each bundle is sold as is and does not necessarily contain a full year due to damaged or lost issues. New titles are added to the table daily and are available on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately, we cannot predict when certain titles will be available nor can we hold bundles for you. Magazine bundles that do not sell will be recycled or donated. Need Tax Forms? We ve Got a Few The Library has arranged to have a supply of some of the most basic IRS and Illinois 2011 tax forms and instruction booklets available to the public. Less common IRS forms can be found in the master tax form binder and may be photocopied. The forms, instructions and binder are located on a red cart adjacent to the Adult Reference Desk. Links to government tax information websites are also available on the Geneva Public Library District website. Visit www.geneva.lib.il.us for more information. Geneva Library Foundation A warm thank you to everyone who came out to support us and our successful Book Fair in December at Barnes & Noble, Geneva Commons. A special thank you to the following individuals and organizations who were key to our success: Chris Stumpf of Happy Face Painting Chris spent several hours painting the faces of our excited young book fair readers. Steve Rambo of Miscella Real Estate Steve arranged for Santa s visit. Fiddlers on Fire A group of students with a love of fiddle music from Geneva Middle Schools North and South, under the direction of Linda Duneske. Sabrina and Kelsey Jaffer Kept our book fair lively by performing Rockin Holiday Tunes. All of the Geneva businesses, religious institutions and public offices for their support by posting signs for everyone to see. Visit us on our website at www.genevalibraryfoundation.org. 4 Geneva Direct

Book Talk 4Teens Book Talk The Watch that Ends the Night by Allan Wolf They thought they had all kinds of time. The Titanic was a gorgeous lady a shining ship, sea-ready, sure and sturdy. No one doubted the course ahead. They had four more life boats than was required, surely this was a sacrifice for the First Class passengers who appreciated space to walk and stretch. Amid the hustle and bustle of staff attending to their duties; the beauty of the ordinary and every day happenings; and calm, smooth sea disaster struck. There were warnings of ice ahead; it was just too difficult to see the iceberg until it was upon them. And then there was chaos, separation, unfilled life boats and loss. The Watch that Ends the Night tells the tale of this doomed ship from many different perspectives. Meet the Captain, First Class passengers, Third Class passengers, workers, gamblers, musicians, children, young lovers, the baker, the postmen, and many, many more. They ll take you aboard and bring their experiences to life for you. This fascinating re-imagining comes at a perfect time April 15th, 2012 marks 100 years since the Titanic sank. Don t miss this fantastic book! Special Note: In honor of Teen Tech Week 2012, the TAG group will be taking on Aurora Public Library s Teen Advisor Board in a game of virtual Jeopardy on March 8.
