I had thought the book was only about listing various types of fairy's but it is so much more.it has chapters on how to summon them, what they like to eat,how they like to dress and how they build their houses and where, etc. just so much information. The drawings are fantastic and I wish I had larger versions of the pictures.the book is quite thick and hand sized (well for my large man hands :) ). So much in this world that we cannot see that is beautiful and wonderful. Once again, another spectacular book from the bible series. I found this book to be absolutely
delightful, if not a bit educational. I have read other books on fairies and actually already knew most of what I found in this book; however, I am still glad to have added it to my collection as it is perfect for loaning out to beginners and for quick reference. Though the intent of the text is to teach people how to incorporate the Fair Folk into their lives and work with them as spiritual companions, the bulk of the book is dedicated to fairy lore from various cultures, making it a good read even for people with no interest in contacting the Good People. Overall, the book has a new age, feel good vibe to it with definite Pagan undertones. I liked a lot of the author's ideas for connecting with the fairies, like creating fairy altars, and I think people of any faith can put them to use. The only problem I had, which is why this book gets four stars instead of five, is that the author completely overlooks the dangerous side of the Fae and gives no information about the rules of proper human-fay etiquette. Other than that, this book is a great addition to the library of any fairyphile or fan of the series. i recently purchased the Fairy Bible just because it perked my interests. i wasn't expecting much, but once I opened it and flipped though it, i realized it was put together extremely well.there are sections on all types of the faye- water, earth, fire, house, air, etc. So if you'd like to learn about a certain one, you can just flip to the certain chapter! :)Not only is it organized well, it's written well. It doesn't speak to you like you're stupid, but it doesn't use words no one understands either. It keeps things interesting.the entire book is extremely informative, and I learned soooo much! This book is small and thick, and loaded with information from start to finish. My child and 10 year old niece couldn't put it down and were enchanted by the illustrations that encourage the imagination to run wild. There is emphasis on breadth of knowledge rather than depth, covering many types of fairies/ realms, making it a fabulous starting point for anyone interested in exploring the origins of fairies from different cultures, era's, legends and myths. It's light-hearted, although it does cover the light and shadow sides of the elemental/ fairy kingdom. We enjoy this book and refer to it often. I first of all have to say the artwork in this book is simply fantastic! It is put together in an easy to read and informative style, however when I hear the word "bible" about something, I expect there to be everything I need to know about said subject. That being said, I guess I was hoping for more of an encyclopedia. Don't get me wrong, I love the book, I just feel it is lacking in the amount of different types of fairies one can learn about. I would buy it again, but if you're looking for a book filled with as many fairies as you can imagine with descriptions of each one, I'd lean more towards
an encyclopedia of sorts. I normally don't review books because it's so subjective, but I just wanted to clarify a few things for people wanting to buy this.this is filled with beautiful, full color, illustrations. There is one on nearly every page and they are very well done.the book is smaller than I pictured it. It was EXACTLY as described, the confusion was ENTIRELY down to me, but I have a few similarly themed books and they seem to be a pretty consistent size. This book is about (entirely eyeballing it here) six and a half by five and a half inches. Good little reference bookthis also isn't a "dictionary" like a lot of other books that categorize mythical beings. The book is entertaining enough to just sit and read. Of course, this is not a storybook, and is well categorized and easy to leaf back through to find a specific fairy.good purchase overall, glad I picked it up. this contains everything you need to know about fairies and the fairy world. bought this out of curiosity. even if you are not a believer, this is good reading...explore all possibilities! What a lovely book this Fairy Bible is. Beautiful pictures of each Fairy with a description and definition for each. Fairies are not always what you think they may be.
