Located five miles from the downtown Green Bay area, students can focus on their music and not be distracted by city attractions. Resident Housing Students UW-Green Bay s two-person dorm rooms are comfortable, offer a private bathroom per room, and are a five-minute walk from the campus facilities. Campers are assigned a roommate of the same gender and age; we honor one roommate request. Special evening activities are planned for campers who choose to live on campus. These events may include a camp dance, talent show, faculty jam sessions, field trips, game night in our newly renovated University Union, swimming at the Kress Events Center, outings to recreational areas in the Green Bay area, etc. A team of trained overnight camp staff supervise students in the UWGB campus dorms. They undergo hours of emergency training, simulated roleplays, and are experienced in working with today s youth. Your camp classes meet in University classrooms, studios and professional performing and rehearsal spaces. All classroom buildings are air-conditioned. Register online: www.uwgbsummercamps.com

Commuter Students Students who commute each day must provide their own daily transportation to and from campus. Lunch is included in the camp fee. All meals feature an all you care to eat meal plan with two entree choices, fresh vegetables, salads, fruits, beverages and desserts. Scholarships As many as 50 percent of our campers attend on scholarships or other assistance. Check with teachers and music parent organizations to see if you qualify for a school scholarship. Many community civic organizations, local businesses and area clubs often provide assistance to students as well. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) offers some scholarship assistance for non-athletic camps. Scholarships are given on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to eligibility based on financial need. Application forms are available at www.uwgbsummercamps.com. Health Services and Insurance The UW-Green Bay Health and Counseling Center is available to students 8:30 a.m. 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Limited coverage accident insurance through the University of Wisconsin is provided for all camps. This limited policy covers injuries relating to camp accidents only. It is understood that medical costs in excess of camp insurance will be borne by parents or guardians. Disciplinary Policies For a complete list of camp rules and disciplinary policies, visit our website at www.uwgbsummercamps.com. First and foremost, the health and safety of every camper is the most important priority of the UWGB Camp program. The UW-Green Bay Summer Camps are licensed by the state of Wisconsin by the Department of Health and Family Services licensure for Camps and Recreational programs. Students are supervised after instructional hours by a staff of trained camp counselors. Medical staff are on duty around the clock. With student/staff ratios of 10:1, students experience instruction during the day from experts in the field, and participate in an array of planned, fun evening activities supervised by a team of trained camp staff. Middle & Senior High School Band: TWO Elective Options, It s up to YOU! Students select two electives to customize their daily schedule. Because so many of our students have multiple talents and interests we offer flexibility in selecting electives. For example, choral students who play an instrument are welcome in instrumental ensembles, wind students who play strings may elect Pop Strings/ Fiddling, etc. And of course lots of instrumental students take Camp Chorus! Most Popular Option: Camp Chorus The 2016 Camp Chorus will present your favorite tunes in a special performance that will inspire your parents and friends. This 7 th hour elective is always our concert finale in the Weidner Center. Jazz Lab Band: A 3 rd hour option class Jazz Lab Band directed by Dr. John Salerno will perform on the Friday night concert in the Weidner Center. Students in this class will be selected by audition and instrumental needs. The Lab Band will rehearse each day during 3 rd hour. Please indicate by checkbox if you are interested in performing in this group. Piano: For students with at least one year playing experience, the piano program at UWGB Music Camps is an immersive experience designed to inspire young musicians and help them reach a higher level in keyboard study. Classes focus on piano repertoire, music theory and ensemble playing. Students receive individual instruction from artist-faculty, and masterclasses and recitals provide ample performance opportunities. Piano students join band, orchestra and choir campers in 3rd and 7th hour electives. Rock Academy: For students who have played for at least one year, they will study with incredible musicians from the Chicago area, including Rich Stitz and Chris Clemente, with local artists/musicians announced at a later date. Topics include efficient practicing, technique, applied theory, recording and most importantly, how to play with other musicians! Students will form their own band and perform LIVE at UWGB s Theatre Hall! This camp features small group technique and styles skills classes to become familiar with many musical styles including jazz, blues, rock, singer/songwriter, and classical. Music Camps Features
