The Foot Tappers News May June 2014 Derek Winters Andy Leggett The Georgia Jazzmen
Editorial e-mail :- pjscardiff@btinternet.com Tel :- 029 20625639 April 2014 We have been very fortunate to receive a generous donation from members of the Adamant and Icon Jazz Bands. This has come about by a suggestion, some time ago, from Clarence Nugent, that the monies, that has been lying in dormant accounts of both bands be donated to the PJS. Much of the money originally came from a donation, in 1992, by our first Chairman Harry Cuming who bequeathed the money in his will for the promotion of our music. Permission and agreement from surviving members of both bands was sought which culminated after some very hard, diligent and frustrating work by Clarence in getting the bank to release the money. So for the first time in many years the PJS has a much sounder financial basis in which to work. On behalf of the PJS I would like to thank Clarence and surviving members of both Bands for their generosity. As one member of the Icon said the only representation of our style of music is through the PJS and if the donation can further their aims, then we are more than happy, and would be a fitting memorial to those who have passed on. The Adamant August 1994 The Icon with Steve Norman, Gwyn, Clarence, Martin and Eddie Dec 2009 Some more good news: - We are having a new website. This is being designed by Mireille, who used to work at Café Jazz, and will have all the functionality of the old site but brought into the 21 st Century. Hopefully it will be live by the time you read this Visit the PJS Website :- www.pjscardiff.co.uk 2

The 17 th brings a new face to Café Jazz although he has been here several years ago, back in 2000 with the Rod Mason Band. It s Andy Leggett, who teams up with his old mate John Gill, with Steve Davis and Pete Locke for company. Andy and John used to play for a band in Bristol called the Titanic Tearoom Quartet, I ve heard CD s and have seen the band live several years ago and I can thoroughly recommend them. So make a note in your diary. We conclude June on the 24 th with the very popular Wessex New Orleans Band with guest John Scantlebury and Peter Winterhart on drums See them all at :- Visit the PJS Website :- www.pjscardiff.co.uk 3
