Quest of the Crystal by Richie Lyon Setting: Several places in the World of Selmor Characters: Cam (a human), Soo (a tree elf), Fee (a thief), Moe (a bridge troll), Ryan (a giant), Narrator, and Mom Problem: There s a crystal that can destroy the world SCENE I: Woods Narrator: There was once a legend about a crystal that could destroy the world. The prophecy told that a great hero would stop it. Mom: Narrator: Bye, mom. Bye, Cam. Be back by dark. Okay, Mom. Cam went outside to get stones for his sling shot. Hi. Who are you? I am a tree elf. My name is Cam. Cam, the prophecy told that you would defeat the giant and stop the crystal. Where do I need to go? The prophecy told that you will journey through the deep woods, desert, and into the cave.
SCENE II: Deep woods By the way, my name is Soo. Nice to meet you, Soo. But one problem, do you know where we are? Ummm No. Great, some prophecy this is. Well I am not the hero here. You are the guide. Aren t you supposed to know where to go? I am a tree elf. I could climb a tree! Why didn t you say so? (climbs the tree) (shouting) About 20 minutes south! I forgot my compass. Which way is south? (Soo climbs down) (pointing) That way, hero! SCENE III: Leaving woods, entering desert It s so hot! Duh, it s a desert! Oh. I thought you said dessert! Haha, very funny. (Cam and Soo continue walking in the desert) Hey, is that someone watching us?
(Squinting) I think you are right. I wonder what she is doing standing around in the desert. Let s find out. (waving) Hey! Over here! (Enter Fee) Hi. My name is Fee. What are you guys doing in the desert? We are on our way to save the world! (Staring at Cam s pocket) Is that a sling shot? (Holding up slingshot) Yes it is. (Grabbing slingshot) Well, got to go! (Running) Hey, come back here you thief! (Cam and Soo chase Fee through the desert and come upon a rope bridge. Fee crosses the bridge.) (Enter Moe) You cannot cross my bridge without paying the toll of three gold coins. How are we going to get across? I don t suppose you have three gold coins. Would I ask how we are going to get across if I had three gold coins? Any day now. I want my money. We don t have any money. Then I guess you are not going across. (Cam and Soo huddle up and whisper) I have a plan. Oh good, can t wait to hear this.
This calls for some trickery. Just follow my lead. (Cam and Soo return to the bridge) Before we pay you, we want to test your bridge to make sure it is safe. Alright. But you better hurry up about it. (Cam and Soo cross half way and bounce on the bridge) I don t think this is safe. Sure it is. Come back and give me my money. I think we should test the other half. Hurry up. (Cam and Soo walk the rest of the way and take of running) (Shouting) Come back here, you still owe me my money! Wow, that was close! When you said we needed to test the safety, I thought you meant it. Hey, I think I see that thief Fee up ahead. (Cam and Soo go running after Fee) (Cam tackles Fee) Hyobok Nukx. (Vine come up from the ground and hold Fee) I will be taking back my slingshot now. (Screaming) Okay, okay! Just get these vines off me! (Cam takes slingshot back and the vines go away) I am getting out of here (runs away)
Hey, that looks like the cave in the prophecy! (Cam and Soo walk into the cave) (Thump, thump, thump!) What is that thumping noise? Um, I think that is the giant. GIANT?! No one ever said anything about a giant. I did not say this was going to be easy, either. (Enter Ryan) Yup. That is a giant. Let s just find this crystal and get out of here. (Cam and Soo hide behind a boulder) Ryan: Ryan: Me smell tiny human. (Gulp) (Tilts the boulder they are hiding behind) There you are, just in time for lunch. (Cam and Soo take off running and come to dead end in the cave) (Looking around) There is the crystal alter! (Enter Ryan) Ryan: Tiny human cannot go by my crystal. Well, here goes nothing. (Cam puts rock into sling shot and shoots) (Ryan falls unconscious) Timber. Nice shooting. Let s now finish the job. Destroy the crystal. (Cam runs to crystal and smashes it on the ground)
SCENE IV: Still in the crystal cave Congratulations, you have saved the world. Thanks, but can we go home now? I have to get home or my mom is going to be mad. (Five days after) Mom: Mom: Where have you been? Out saving the world. Cam. Cam. CAM! (Cam sits up in bed) (in bed) It was all a dream. (Something in Cam s pocket pokes him) Ouch! (Cam pulls a piece of the crystal out of his pocket) Or was it THE END
