English I Poetry & Writing Portfolio Project Now that you are near the end of your English I career, you will need to create a portfolio reflecting everything that we discussed. The portfolio should be neatly composed, organized, and creatively crafted. This project is not only a reflection of your English I career, but is also a reflection of your personality. Have fun! Each individual assignment is worth 10/350 10pts- Student has successfully completed assignment and adhered to requirements 5pts- Student completed half of the assignment 0- Student failed to complete assignment Poem Points Earned Comments 1. Write a letter to your friend and display a picture. 2. Create a personal narrative about a memorable moment. 3. Find a poem about friendship and display a picture. 4. Write and create a picture about a word that describes you. 5. Write a journal entry about your favorite song, include the song lyrics and a picture. 6. Write a poem about yourself using metaphors, similes, and adjectives to describe yourself. 7. Create a memory poem about a favorite past time using 3 examples of imagery. 8. Choose your favorite journal entry or quote from your daybooks and add as an entry to your poetry project. Make sure to use pictures or illustration to go along with the journal entry. 9. Find a poem about love and display illustrations or photos. 10. Find a poem about feelings, aspirations, and desires. 11. Write an old friend and discuss an issue that has bothered you for a long time. 12. Write a journal entry about your favorite holiday memory using sensory language. 13. Write about a historical past time of America. Display photos or illustrations. 14. Write a poem about dreams use similes and metaphors within the poem. 15. Choose an event from today s world views an earthquake, a revolution, a famine and imagine its taking place in your community. Write about it. Use photos or illustrations.
