TECHNICAL RIDER Company: WINTER GUESTS Performance: Simulacrum This rider should be included in the contract when the performance is booked, and any deviations must be clarified with technical manager prior to signing. This rider contains 8 pages. The performance is about 100 minutes long, excluding intermission. ACT 1 is 75min, ACT 2 is 20min. Intermission 20-25min. Company travels with 2 performers, 1 director, 1 producer and 3 technicians. Simulacrum was originally created for a stage width of 12m and a stage depth of 12m. It can be adapted to bigger and smaller venues; minimum requirements are approx. 10m wide x 10m deep. Set consists of 1 set piece, 2 analogue projectors and some small props. The set can be transported by plane, but it is much cheaper (but slower) to ship by truck/sea. The performance requires the use of mid to heavy haze for large parts of the performance. STAGE: Summary: Italian style masking (legs and borders, 1 border needs to be approx. 3m high to crop cyc). Black floor (no dance vinyl). 1 set piece. 2 analogue projection machines on the floor. Black rear projection screen. Black gauze. White bounce drop. Venue provides: Minimum stage area 10m wide, 10m deep. Ideally the distance from the front of the stage to the first row of audience should be about 2m. It is very important that the floor is even, flat and clean. Due to the weigh of our rotating set piece the floor should not be sprung (too soft) and it should not have dance vinyl on it. Masking suited to the venue. Italian style masking with borders and legs. See LX plot for positions. All black masking and cloth should be of same material, black velour is preferred. Black RP screen the full width of the stage. A black gauze the full width of the stage. A white bounce cloth US of cyc the full width of the stage. Front curtain It will make the set-up and strike easier if we have access to a flybar or motor on stage that can lift the set piece out of the flight case. The set piece weighs approximately 500kg. A small riser approx. 50cm x 50cm x 40cm (height) with black top and sides A stage manager who knows the venue and venue FOH routines. SOUND: Summary: 4ch playback, regular L+R FOH PA with additional L+R PA flown US. Monitors on stage. 4ch wireless mics. Playback from 1 computer with soundcard. Venue provides: Professional grade PA (Meyer, d&b, L-Acoustics preferred); L+R system with separate sub that provides even coverage of the audience. PA should be able to play loud (100 dba) without distortion at mixer. Please send PA specs to technical manager. Additional L+R speakers flown upstage. Preferably of same quality as main PA. See LX plot for position. Monitors on stage of similar quality as the main PA with full coverage of the stage area. 4ch wireless transmitters (Sennheiser preferred) with high quality skin coloured mic, ideally DPA 4061, should be water resistant. Professional grade mixer with at least 12ch input, 4 sends and parametric eq on input channels. Digital mixer preferred. Please send specs to technical manager. Mixing position must be in the center of the room and preferably not under balconies or other enclosed spaces. Large hall reverb and octaver (pitch shifter) is also required at FOH. Space for a Mac/soundcard setup next to mixer (approx 60x60cm) with 4 power outlets (230v, schuko sockets) 6 cables to connect jack out to mixer input. 1 talkback mic at mixer position, Shure SM58 preferred A sound engineer familiar to the venue system and mixer Company provides: Playback from Q-Lab on Macbook laptop and soundcard We bring our own sound operator 3

LIGHTING: Summary: Generic lights, Cyc lighting with color mixing, 7x ballet towers, 5x Martin MAC III Performance, 12x moving head wash lights with color mixing, 7 LED PARs, hazer. Trim height of at least 6m. Venue Provides: All fixtures as per lamp count (attached) All gels as per gel count (attached) Cyc lighting with color mixing. See LX plot for installation. VIDEO: Summary: 1 bright, high quality projectors with normal throw ratio for venue front projection. Venue provides: 1x HD projector (min 5000 ansi lumen) with appropriate lens. Projectors to be rigged FOH for normal front projection onto a small section (image size approx. 2m x 2m) of the stage (see photo below for reference). All necessary rigging hardware and digital signal cable (minidp, DVI or HMDI preferred) between the projector and sound console A video technician familiar with the venue and the projectors Please send plan and section of the venue well in advance of performance to calculate projector and lens requirements. Company brings: Macbook Pro with digital output We bring our own video operator 5

OTHER: Costume: Some laundry needed for consecutive performances. 1 set of costume is a traditional Japanese kimono and it requires a fair amount of rehearsal to assist our performer in dressing during the intermission. We require 1 dresser to be available for all stage rehearsals and performances. This needs to be a competent dresser and must be the same person for the whole period. A rehearsal and performance schedule must be made for each venue. Dressing rooms: We need dressing rooms for 2 performers close to the stage. They should be clean and bright with coat racks for hanging costumes and make up tables. We require 1 extra tall and wide costume rack for the kimono. There has to be clean and quick access from dressing rooms to the stage. The performers can share dressing room. Translator: We need a Japanese English translator for all stage rehearsals and performances. Accommodation: Please consider that one of our performers is a 77-year-old man. If possible a hotel with breakfast, a decent restaurant and a room with a bathtub goes a long way. Travel: 6 return tickets from Norway. 1 return ticket from Tokyo. 6

SCHEDULE: We require 2 days to rig the performance prior to the performance day. A detailed schedule will be agreed upon between venue and technical manager on a venue per venue basis.
