You aso can perform manua receive or you can set the time manuay. Even if the time caibration signa is received correcty, there are some times when the anaog s may not indicate the correct time. If this happens, use the procedures under Adjusting the Home Positions to check the home positions of the s, and make adjustments as required. Dayight (DST) Dayight (summer time) advances the time setting by one hour from. Remember that not a countries or even oca areas use Dayight. The time caibration signas transmitted from Mainfingen (Germany), Anthorn (Engand), or Fort Coins (the United States) incude both and DST data. When the Auto DST setting is turned on, the watch switches between Standard Time and DST (summer time) automaticay in accordance with the signas. Though the time caibration signa transmitted by the Fukushima and Fukuoka/Saga, Japan transmitters incude summer time data, summer time currenty is not impemented in Japan (as of 007). The defaut DST setting is Auto DST (AT/AUTO) whenever you seect LON, PAR, ATH, ANC, LAX, DEN, CHI, NYC, or TYO as your Home code. If you experience probems receiving the time caibration signa in your area, it probaby is best to switch between and Dayight (summer time) manuay. For more information, see To set the time and date manuay.

Time Caibration Signa Reception There are two different methods you can use to receive the time caibration signa: auto receive and manua receive. Auto Receive With auto receive, the watch receives the time caibration signa automaticay up to six times a day. When any auto receive is successfu, the remaining auto receive operations are not performed. For more information, see About Auto Receive. Manua Receive Manua receive ets you start a time caibration receive operation with the press of a button. For more information, see To perform manua receive. Important! When getting ready to receive the time caibration signa, position the watch as shown in the nearby iustration, with its o cock side facing towards a window. This watch is designed to receive a time caibration signa ate at night. Because of this, you shoud pace the watch near a window as shown in the iustration when you take it off at night. Make sure there are no meta objects nearby. o cock Make sure the watch is facing the right way. Proper signa reception can be difficut or even impossibe under the conditions isted beow. Inside or among buidings Inside a vehice Near househod appiances, office equipment, or a mobie phone Signa reception normay is better at night than during the day. Time caibration signa reception takes from two to seven minutes, but in some cases it can take as ong as minutes. Take care that you do not perform any button operations or move the watch during this time. The time caibration signa the watch wi attempt to pick up depends on its current Home code setting as shown beow. If you use the watch in Japan or Europe (each of which has two different transmitter ocations), it wi try to receive the time caibration signa from one of the transmitters in your current ocation. If it cannot receive the signa, it wi then try to receive the time caibration signa from the other transmitter. Home s and Transmitters Home LON, PAR, ATH or Near a construction site, airport, or other sources of eectrica noise Transmitter Anthorn (Engand) Mainfingen (Germany) Fukushima (Japan) Fukuoka/Saga (Japan) Fort Coins, Coorado (the United States) Near hightension power ines Frequency 77. khz 0.0 khz Among or behind mountains HKG*, TYO HNL*, ANC*, LAX, DEN, CHI, NYC * The areas covered by the HKG, HNL, and ANC city codes are quite far from the time caibration signa transmitters, and so certain conditions may cause probems with signa reception. Approximate Reception Ranges U.S. Signa U.K. and German Signas,00 kiometers,000 mies (,000 kiometers) Anthorn 00 kiometers U.K. signa transmitter approximate reception range as of Apri 007 00 kiometers Fukuoka/Saga,000 kiometers Mainfingen 600 mies (,000 kiometers) Fort Coins 00 kiometers Fukushima,000 kiometers Japan Signa In Apri 007, the U.K. signa transmitter was moved from Rugby to Anthorn, which resuted in a sight shift in the approximate reception range of the signa. The shift is so sight that there is virtuay no change in the abiity to receive the signa. Even when the watch is within the reception range of a transmitter, signa reception may be impossibe at times due to the effects of geographic contours, structures, weather, the season of the year, the time of day, radio interference, etc. Note that the signa becomes weaker at distances of approximatey 00 kiometers from the transmitter, which means that the infuence of the conditions isted above becomes even greater. About Auto Receive The watch receives the time caibration signa automaticay up to six times a day. When any auto receive is successfu, the remaining auto receive operations are not performed. The reception schedue (caibration times) depends on your currenty seected Home, and whether standard time or Dayight is seected for your Home. The time caibration signa bounces off the ionosphere. Because of this, such factors as changes in the refectivity of the ionosphere, as we as movement of the ionosphere to higher atitudes due to seasona atmospheric changes or the time of day may change the reception range of the signa and make reception temporariy impossibe. Even if the time caibration signa is received propery, certain conditions can cause the time setting to be off by up to one second. The current time setting in accordance with the time caibration signa takes priority over any time settings you make manuay. The watch is designed to update the date and day of the week automaticay for the period January, 000 to December, 099. Setting of the date by the time caibration signa wi not be performed starting from January, 00. This watch can receive signas that differentiate between eap years and non-eap years. Though this watch is designed to receive both time data (hour, minutes, seconds) and date data (year, month, day), certain signa conditions can imit reception to time data ony.
