Synthesis Next Challenges 3D can bring real emotion, quality is the key 3D content creation and production is radically different from 2D 2D and 3D content will co-exist for a long time Glassless viewing technology is a key factor for acceptance Until then, 3DTV will remain rather event driven Higher frame rate & resolution bring excellent 3D impression & comfort Digital TV & Display technologies provide now the basis to carry on with constant improvement, bringing 3D as a given aspect of TV as it happened for stereo sound and colour in the past JEDI will be the basis for 3D experiences in UltraHD as a next step ITEA 2-17 3DTV an option for the future Our consolidated view within JEDI TV & Display technology roadmap: technique usage Early 1900 s Mid 1900 s End 1900 s 2012 Next Ultra-HD: 4K & 8K 3DTV /JEDI DTV-SD/HD SD Color SD B&W Future 3D developments will benefit from the JEDI results ITEA 2-18 9
