The lyrics tell o a sailor, named Bo ittman, who wants to sail home to marry his sweetheart. The tune is ased on a traditional English shanty, Sanish Ladies, which descries headlands sighted on a sailor's homeward voyage through the English Channel. Sanish Ladies has a numer o variants: New England whalers sang o Yankee Whalermen, while their aciic counterarts sang o Talcuhano Girls. A more landlocked drover's version suraced in Australia as Brisane Ladies. This arrangement, or eginning and, uses less than an octave in all arts excet the lute and alto saxohone. The tune is stated twice eore The arty gets a little raucous... at ar 9. This un ars should e layed loudly and the clashes and ercussion eects can really e rought out. The tune is then layed y the low guys. At 61, the temo increases quite a it and should eel in 1 until the dramatic ew ars at 80. The iece roars to a conclusion with a solo rake drum (or cowell).
