about the ensemble Formed in 1984 by cellist Christopher Rex, violist Reid Harris and violinist William Preucil (now concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra), the Georgian Chamber Players celebrate their 30th Anniversary Season this year. The musicians perform masterworks with their Atlanta Symphony Orchestra colleagues and world-renowned guest instrumentalists. David Coucheron, Amy Schwart Moretti and Elizabeth Pridgen joined the ensemble in the 2010-2011 season, and Julie Coucheron joined in the 2012-2013 season. Many outstanding guest artists have performed with the Georgian Chamber Players, including pianists Emanuel Ax, Andre Watts and Philippe Entremont; violinists Shlomo Mintz, Joseph Silverstein and Robert McDuffie; cellist Janos Starker; and guitarist David Leisner. Join us as we celebrate three decades of musical excellence! biographies David Coucheron regularly performs in some of the world s most impressive concert venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall Weill Hall, The Kennedy Center in Washington, and with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, Trondheim Philharmonic, Bergen Symphony, Oslo Philharmonic, and Sendai Philharmonic. David holds degrees from The Curtis, Juilliard and Guildhall Schools and his teachers include Aaron Rosand, Igor Ozim, Lewis Kaplan and David Takeno. In addition he has collaborated with many distinguished artists such as Maxim Vengerov, Vassily Sinaisky, Jacqueline Ross, Andre Emelianoff, Christian Eggen, Joseph Silverstein, Timothy Eddy, and Ronald Leonard. Reid Harris maintains an active solo and chamber music performance schedule while serving as Principal Violist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Harris is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where his principal mentor was Abraham Skernick. He undertook additional studies with William Primrose and Joseph de Pasquale. While at the Music Academy of the West, he was chosen by Primrose to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award for a violist. He has performed with the Players at Carnegie Hall s Weill Recital Hall and has participated with Yo-Yo Ma s Silk Road Ensemble. He has taken part in recordings by REM and Stone Temple Pilots. Prior to his ASO appointment, he served as Assistant Principal with the Baltimore Symphony from 1975 to 1979. Photo Credit J D Scott Christopher Rex joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as Principal Cellist in 1979, the same year in which he became the first cellist ever to win the string prize in the Young Artists Competition of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Mr. Rex founded as in Artistic Director of the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival. He also serves as Artistic Director of the Madison Chamber Music Festival in Madison, Georgia, and has appeared as recitalist and chamber musician across the nation. After studies at the Curtis Institute and the Julliard School, he was a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra for seven years before coming to Atlanta. Julie Coucheron has established an international career, winning first prize in all the national competitions she has attended, in addition to winning prizes in Italy, Germany and in the United States. Ms. Coucheron has worked with musicians such as Lazar Berman, Claude Frank, Emanuel Ax, Vladimir Feltsman, John O Connor, Elton John and Chistopher O Riley and has toured Europe, America, South America and Asia, playing in great halls like Verizon Hall, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. She earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees with honors from the Royal Academy of Music in London studying with Christopher Elton and Michael Dussek, in addition to getting her teaching Diploma at the same institution. Ms. Coucheron is Artistic Director at the Fjord Cadenza Music Festival in Norway and is also a frequent guest artist at festivals such as the Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Bergen International Music Festival, the Kon Tiki Classical Music Fest, Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival and at La Jolla Summerfest. Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in 2009 she regularly tours Europe and America as a freelance soloist and chamber musician. Helen Kim joined the music faculty in 2006 at Kennesaw State University with a stellar performance background. She made her orchestral debut with the Calgary Philharmonic at the age of six, and has gone on to become a respected and sought-after artist. She has appeared as a soloist with the Boston Pops at Boston s Symphony Hall, as well as with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Symphony Orchestras. Ms. Kim earned her Master s Degree from the Juilliard School, where her teachers included Cho-Liang Lin and Dorothy DeLay. She is the recipient of more than one hundred national and international

awards. In 1992, she won the prestigious Artists International Competition in New York and, as a result, gave debut recitals at Carnegie Weill Hall and the Aspen Summer Music Festival. A native of Canada, Ms. Kim has been engaged by many of Canada s leading orchestras, including the National Arts Center Orchestra, Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, McGill Chamber Orchestra, and the Windsor, Regina, Victoria and Prince George Symphonies. She has also appeared with the Cobb, Georgia Symphony Orchestra, DeKalb, New Orleans, Aspen and Banff Festival Orchestras, and with orchestras in the United Kingdom, Germany and Poland. Ms. Kim has toured extensively throughout Canada and the United States, including performances at Alice Tully Hall and the Sante Fe and La Jolla International Music Festivals, where she performed with Cho-Liang Lin, Gary Hoffman, Andre Previn, and the Orion String Quartet. She performed Bach s Double Violin Concerto with Hilary Hahn at the 2002 Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival. Ms. Kim has been profiled on national and international television and has appeared on CBC, PBS and CBS networks. Her performances have been aired on NPR and CBC radio networks. Ms. Kim served as assistant and associate concertmaster for the Atlanta Symphony for three seasons. She is currently the assistant concertmaster of the Atlanta Opera Orchestra. Ms. Kim performs with local new music ensembles, Bent Frequency, Sonic Generator, Thamyris, and recently joined the Atlanta Chamber Players.
