Comosed or the Susquehanna Symhony Orchestra Sheldon Bair, Music Director and esecially or Ooist, udith amous Premiere: May 10, 200 Havre de Grace, Maryland Duration: 1 minutes Instrumentation: Ooe, lute, Bassoon, Trumet, Percussion, Strings Enchantment the orchestra creates gentle, loing atterns as i casting a sell o onder and magic, The ooe enters ith a theme o scalar descents, emellished ith grace notes. The orchestra and ooe intereave their atterns. Tricks the conductor ecomes a Magician, roudly earing a Magician's hat. The ooe attemts to conure u a rait rom the conductor's hat. Aha! The rait aears, and oins in conducting the orchestra! No, the ooe ecomes the Magician's Assistant, volunteering to e saed in hal (!). The ooe takes a seat ithin the orchestra (i.e., ithin the saing ox). A "saing theme" is layed in the loer strings. Vigorous oing ensues. A cry o terror is heard rom the ooe. The saing continues...ut, miraculously, the ooe survives and emerges intact. The Magician no roduces a large egg, roudly dislayed. Hoever, this is a sleight-o-hand trick. The egg vanishes, reaears in various laces ithin the orchestra, and makes a surrise inal aearance. Evening Magic sounds at dusk, a serenade, the sunset, stars, shooting stars. The quiet o evening unolds. ltimately, the magical rilliance o the night lends its energy to the music.
