Thesis/Dissertation Submission: Overview Why Should I Submit my Thesis? Thesis/dissertation submission is a necessary process to get your doctorate or master s degree. To report your research result to the UNIST and share your research with UNIST members and other future researchers. [Gradeuate students] Write and get approval your thesis [Library] Submit your final thesis [Educational Affairs Team] Confirm the submission and process your graduation Thesis Submission Process There are 2 steps to submit your thesis 1 Submit the original file of your thesis on the online submission system dcollection. 2 Submit hardbacks to the library and school office. The original file and hardback should be same contents. Online submission @ dcollection Get online submission approval from the library Hardback submission @ Library & School office Guide for Thesis/Dissertation Writing Guide for Thesis/Dissertation Writing : UNIST Portal > Notice for Graduate student Notes 1 Paper size: A4, The original color of pictures should be maintained even after printed. (Color printing) 2 Signed page of The confirmation of thesis/dissertation approval should be contained in hardbacks. Requirements Online submission Hardback submission Thesis original file (MS Word or PDF file. PDF format is recommended) 1 To Library: 2 copies (for Master s) / 4 copies (for Doctorate) of hardbacks. 2 Thesis/Dissertation Copyright Consent Form - You and your advisor s signatures are required. - The format will be available to download on the Portal-Notice for Graduate student. 3 Certificate of Thesis/Dissertation Submission - It ll be available to print out on the dcollection web site after completing the online submission. How to: 1. Online Submission 1. Access the online submission web site dcollection URL: UNIST dcollection (http://unist.dcollection.net) LogIn > ID: Student ID number / Password: 6 digits of your date of birth (YYMMDD) The web site is only available to log in during the submission period. 2. Select the Start a Submission menu: Dissertation submission 3. Confirm or edit your contact information: 2

5. Copyright Agreement: Author permission for making theses publicly UNIST library encourages graduate students to make their thesis publicly to promote research result on the web. Authors are required to complete the Thesis/Dissertation Copyright Consent From and submit to the library with their hardbacks. The agreement states should be same on the online submission and paper form. Conditional Agree option : If you can not make public your thesis for a certain period of time due to some reason such as applying for a patent or publishing a journal article, etc., you can set a publication date of your thesis. Options Agree Not agree Description People can read, save and print out your thesis on the web. It s encouraged to set up the scope of license by Creative Commons License (CCL). Full text of your thesis will be available to view only in the UNIST campus (UNIST IP range) and printing and saving a file are not allowed. Author should give a sufficient reason for being closed. 5

How to: 2. Get approval of online submission Get approval and print a certificate After finishing the online submission, the library will check yours and approve that. Approval process usually takes 1 or 2 days. Only approved online submissions are available submit hardbacks to the library and school office. Certificate will be available to print out on the dcollection web site. The printed certificate should be submitted to the library with hardbacks. Fill out the Thesis/Dissertation Copyright Consent Form Authors are required to fill out the Thesis/Dissertation Copyright Consent From and submit to the library with hardbacks. 8
How to: 3. Hardback Submission Hardback submission After finishing the online submission, students should submit hardbacks and related documents to the library and their school office. Requirements and where to submit 1 Hardback - Master s degree : 2 copies to the library (1 copy for UNIST library, 1 copy for National Assembly Library of Korea) 1 copy to the school office - Doctorate degree : 4 copies to the library (1 copy for UNIST library, 3 copies for National Library and National Assembly Library of Korea) 1 copy to the school office 2 Thesis/Dissertation Copyright Consent Form 1 copy - Fill out the provided form and get your advisor s signature. - It should be submitted to the library with hardbacks. 3 Certificate of Thesis/Dissertation Submission 1 copy - Print out on the online submission web site dcollection after getting approval from the library. - It should be submitted to the library with hardbacks. Where to submit: Library 3F Info-desk (Only during the hardback submission period, 9 am 6 pm) 9
