Mr Pickwick s friend, Mr Perker is the agent of one of the candidates. They learn a lot about politics here and go back to London. The prison is a miserable place and Mr Pickwick suffers a lot here. His friends try to convince him to leave because both Mr Winkle and Mr Snodgrass wants to get married and needs his help. Sam moves in to keep Mr Pickwick company. They follow Jingle to another town called Ipswich, where they learn that he pretends to be someone called Captain Fitz-Marshall. He is planning to marry a young girl from a good family. Mr Pickwick and his friends go to the girl s family to tell them the truth about Jingle. There Sam falls in love with the family s servant girl. The Pickwickians and their friends from Manor Farm go to Dingle Dell to see a cricket match. They meet Jingle and invite him back to the house. He learns that Mr Tupman and Rachael Wardle are in love, and he lies to Rachael about Mr Tupman. Later he elopes with Rachael. The Pickwickians go back to London for the trial. Mr Pickwick loses the case and he has to pay Mrs Bardell damages of 750. Mr Pickwick thinks he is innocent and does not want to pay the damages. He is sent to the Fleet Prison for Debtors. Mr Pickwick decides to employ Sam Weller as his valet. He asks his landlady, Mrs Bardell if it is possible to keep another person in the house. Mrs Bardell misunderstands it and thins that he wants to marry her. Mr Pickwick forms a club with his friends and starts travelling around England. On their way to Kent they meet a young actor called Jingle. Mr Pickwick meets and helps Jingle in the prison. Jingle apologises to Mr Pickwick, who forgives him and helps him to get a new job. Later Mr Perker convinces Mr Pickwick to pay the damages and leave the prison. Mr Pickwick goes to the wedding of Mr Snodgrass and Emily, and persuades Mr Winkle s father to accept Arabella. Later they all go to the wedding of Sam and Mary. In November 1827 they hold the last meeting of the Pickwick Club where everyone cheers their leader, Mr Pickwick. Mr Pickwick and Mr Wardle follow Jingle and Rachael to London. Here they find them in a hotel where they also meet a servant called Sam Weller. They pay 120 to Jingle to get Rachael back. Mr Tupman and Jingle go to a dance in the hotel. Here they get into trouble because Jingle dances a lady. This makes another man angry, and he challenges Jingle to a duel. Mr Pickwick receives a letter saying that Mrs Bardell is taking him to court. She thinks that Mr Pickwick promised to marry her. They have a month until the trial so they decide to spend some time in a nice town called Bury St Edmunds. Here they see Jingle again, whose valet tells them the he wants to elope with another girl.
