October 3, 2009 (Sat) Honolulu to Tokyo An early afternoon flight takes us to Tokyo. October 4, 2009 (Sun) Tokyo We arrive in the late afternoon. From there we head into Tokyo for the Shiba Park Hotel. The remainder of the day is free to rest and relax. October 5, 2009 (Mon) Tokyo Disney On our first day we will hit Disney s first park outside of the United States. Here we visit those old favorites, like It s a Small World to Thunder Mountain. Also see Japanese takes on Frontierland and Main Street USA. October 6, 2009 (Tues) Asakusa/Kappa Bashi Dori/ Asakusa Bashi Today will be spent in two areas of Tokyo, Asakusa, Asakusa Bashi and Kappa Bashi Dori. Our first stop will be Asakusa, which is a famous Japanese landmark, known for its giant red lantern. The surrounding area, Nakamise Dori, has numerous handicraft stores selling things like beads. From there we will go to Kappa Bashi Dori, a kitchen wholesale district, where you can find everything from plastic food to the kitchen sink. At Asakusa Bashi, you will find goods ranging from paper products, like wrapping paper, washi paper, and bags to stamps and origami. They also have a wide selection of bead shops. October 7, 2009 (Wed) Puroland and Sugamo Our first stop of the day is Puroland. This amusement park is dedicated to Hello Kitty and all her friends. From there we will head to Sugamo. Also known as the old people's Harajuku for its fashion sense, Sugamo is a discount clothing area. It is also famous for Shio Daifuku and senbei. October 8, 2009 (Thur) Tokyo Disney Sea / Funabashi Disney Sea and its seven ports of call. Explore the Mediterranean Harbor, the Mysterious Island, the Mermaid Lagoon, the Arabian Coast, Lost River Delta, Port Discovery, and an American Waterfront. Each port offers rides and shows for you to explore based on their specific themes. After we explore Disney s maritime wonders, we will go to Funabashi, a seven story 100 yen store, with over 70,000 square feet of showroom on display. It is Japan s largest 100 yen store.
October 9, 2009 (Fri) Akihabara / Ameyokocho / Kamata City Our first stop of the day will be to Tokyo's electric town, Akihabara. Here the latest electronics can be found alongside costumed figures from Japan's animation history. For our last stop we will explore Ameyokocho, a food wholesale area where we can find everything from candies and cookies to dried seafood. Our last stop today will be Kamata City which has specialty handcraft stores. There is Yuzawaya, a crafter s dream store. Everything beads to cords can be found in this area. Tonight, we will have a special farewell dinner. October 10, 2009 (Sat) Tokyo to Honolulu In the morning we will visit the Tsukiji Fish Market and perhaps sample some of the fresh seafood available. Our last stop before we head to the airport is a visit to a local shopping center where you can stretch your legs and have a late lunch on your own. An evening flight will return us home to Hawaii.
