RE: WRITE NOW! CHILDREN S LITERARY AWARD 2018 The Write Now! Children s Literary Award sponsored by the Friends of Maitland City Library is now in its 11 th year. The aim of the award is to encourage literacy development, foster creativity and promote pride in achievement for children in the Hunter region. The Write Now! Award is presented for excellence in writing and is open to K-6 students in the Hunter district. It is administered in partnership with Maitland City Library and the University of Newcastle s Faculty of Education. Bachelor of Arts (Primary Teaching) students from the University of Newcastle will present a number of workshops at Maitland City Library branches for children with the aim of assisting in the development of creative writing and presentation skills. While attendance at the workshops is beneficial, it is not a pre-requisite for entrance to the award. It would be appreciated if the award could be promoted to teachers and students at your school. Please find attached further information about the award, including conditions of entry, poster and sample entry form. This information is also available from any Maitland City Library branch and the Library s website at https://www.maitlandlibrary.com.au/whats-on/for-kids/write-now-childrens-literaryaward Please don t hesitate to contact myself on phone O408661502 or City Librarian, Keryl Collard on phone 4934 9704 if further information is required. Members of the Friends of Maitland City Library would be pleased to talk to teachers and students, if requested.
