This gift funded a proposal by Tim Hacker to purchase materials dealing with the Holocaust. The Friends also initiated a monthly Brown Bag Lunch which features faculty from the campus community.
Many of the PML faculty and staff journeyed to Murray State to visit the Waterfield Library for professional development and partnership building. The Murray State librarians later visited UTM. Also, several librarians attended WeTALC meetings at Union University in Jackson and the University of Memphis. We were able to assist Freed-Hardeman University with their yearbook digital archival project by allowing access to our KIC scanner. VCAA, Dr. Jerald Ogg, converted the temporary ARRA Electronic Resources/Outreach position to a permanent faculty slot for PML. This position is shared between Marlow Peters and Karen White, both of whom became embedded librarians with several classes for the first time. Library Subject Liaisons were designated for each academic department. LibGuides, a web-based library tool, was launched. Other significant improvements to the facility/resources: Netbooks added to Media Department for in-house use AED defibrillators added and emergency protocols enhanced Electrical receptacles added to north balcony of 2 nd floor Planted an herb garden in the entry area of the library Sampling of Library Events: Alumni Council Luncheon Legacy Luncheon Alumni Brunch at Homecoming UTJC and Golden Grad Reunions Featured Faculty receptions held Fall and Spring Semesters Banned Book Week celebrated Tennessee Textbook Depository Surplus offered to area educators Student Teacher Career Fair Hosted and presented Obion County Department of Education Librarian In-service Held WeTALC Reference Meeting Tennessee Library Association Staff Development workshop Westview High School Recycle Project display in lobby Faculty Senate Library Committee meetings Plus, many library instruction classes, workshops and tours for special groups.
